UFC 112 Picks – Welcome To Abu Dhabi
The UFC is heading to the United Arab Emirates and it should be an interesting weekend of action. The UFC 112 betting card at Abu Dhabi features the return of Anderson Silva, who is considered to be one of the best pound-for-pound fighters in all of mixed martial arts. Here’s a preview of UFC 112:
UFC 112 Betting Odds: Silva -900
It’s safe to say that Demian Maia has caught a few breaks to get in the position that he’s in. Online betting fans were expecting to see Silva fight Vitor Belfort in this matchup, but he was forced to pull out because of injury. Then bettors were expecting to see Silva fight Chael Sonnen, but that never panned out as he was also forced to pull out because of injury.
That gave Maia a lucky break and now he’ll have a shot at stardom in Abu Dhabi.
The problem for Maia is that he is a very aggressive fighter and Anderson Silva is one of the best at anticipating attacks. Silva is a phenomenal defensive fighter and he’s going to be extremely prepared for Maia to come forward.
Silva has a reach advantage and will probably be able to keep him at bay for a short period of time, but Maia will try to get this fight to the ground as soon as possible. Silva knows this and will be prepared for it.
It’s a tough spot for Maia. He is one of the best in this division but he’s in for a bad matchup – and a bad night – against Silva.
UFC 112 Picks: Silva
UFC 112 Betting Odds: Penn -700
Another great fighter takes on another Joe Contender in the UFC 112 card. B.J. Penn has been virtually untouchable at lightweight and Frankie Edgar isn’t much of a threat to him.
Just take a look at the betting line. The sportsbook odds set Penn as a huge favorite, which goes to show what the bookies think of the young gun, Edgar.
The reality is that even though Edgar is a better featherweight than lightweight, he does realistically have a shot – a slight one.
Edgar is good on his feet but Penn is an excellent counter-puncher. That’s bad news for Edgar as that’s one of his game plans. He’s also good on the mats but Penn is better and Penn also has phenomenal takedown defense. That doesn’t leave Edgar with many options.
Edgar will be frustrated standing toe-to-toe and after taking a beating for a few rounds, he’ll try to get it to the ground and he’ll get submitted.
UFC 112 Picks: Penn
UFC 112 Betting Odds: Hughes -450
Not exactly the most evenly matched card, if you notice.
Matt Hughes is another big favorite at UFC 112 and the UFC betting fan favorite should roll.
This fight will add your old school flavor to the card as both fighters are past their prime, but are still brand names
It’s a fight we’ve seen before: Hughes versus a one-dimensional grappler. Gracie’s only chance to win this fight is via submission and Hughes knows that. Hughes has also dealt with this type of fighter several times before with very good results.
Gracie will try to get through Hughes’ guard but when that doesn’t work, he won’t have any other tricks in the bag. Hughes will take advantage and earn the easy win.
