UFC 118 Betting – Can Penn Get Back On Top In Boston?
On the heels of the highly entertaining and exciting UFC 116 and UFC 117, the top promotion in Mixed Martial Arts is already busy pushing its next Pay Per View, which will feature another main card designed to please the masses. With a rematch of one of the most memorable UFC Lightweight Championship matches, and a list of competitors including Kenny Florian, Nate Diaz, and the legendary Randy Couture, UFC 118 will be the next in a line of excellent online sports betting main cards that president Dana White has put together this year.
Frankie Edgar (12-1-0) vs BJ Penn (15-6-1)
Prior to putting the UFC Lightweight championship belt on the line at UFC: 112, it was longtime champion BJ Penn that was looking invincible. Not only had he gone undefeated at the 155-pound level since even before taking the title from Joe Stevenson in early 2008, Penn had not even been taken down before stepping in to the octagon in Abu Dhabi. Frankie Edgar made sure he provided some questions that not even “The Answer” could eliminate, taking him down repeatedly while going the full five rounds, before being awarded the judges decision unanimously. The outcome was surely a shock to many, as illustrated by the fight’s nomination for Best Upset of the Year at the 2010 ESPY Awards, but as is the case when all championship runs come to an end in that fashion, a rematch was quickly scheduled. Word from the camp of the 31-year old Penn quickly spread that he was, “battling a sinus infection and was on anti-biotics” for the bout. Whatever the case, there will be no more excuses when the UFC crashes down in Boston, Massachusetts, and UFC betting players can count on Penn being in top shape. Unlike the initial contest, Edgar will now be the hunted rather than the hunter, and it will be interesting to see how both fighters fare with reversed roles.
Randy Couture (18-10-0) vs James Toney (N/A)
Forget NFL betting, professional boxer James “Lights Out” Toney makes his professional MMA debut against the legendary Randy “The Natural” Couture in a heavyweight division fight that may be more entertainment than it is potential. It will be interesting to see how the much more experienced, cerebral veteran Couture approaches his contest with Toney, who at 41 is fighting for pride.
Kenny Florian (14-4-0)vs Gray Maynard (9-0-1)
Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Black Belt Kenny Florian makes his return to the octagon looking to make it three consecutive wins when he faces the undefeated Gray “The Bully” Maynard with the number one contender spot for the UFC Lightweight title on the line.
Nate Diaz (12-5-0) vs Marcus Davis (17-6-0)
Losses to Gray Maynard, Joe Stevenson, and Clay Guida have knocked Diaz down a notch in the eyes of many, but that won’t make him any less dangerous when he steps in to the octagon to take on Marcus “The Celtic Warrior” Davis.
Gerald Harris (17-2-0) vs Alessio Sakara (15-7-1)
Italian Alessio Harris looks to extend his three-fight betting win streak when he steps in to the octagon against Gerald “Hurricane” Harris, who remains undefeated after three fights in the UFC.
