Weekend Betting Preview - July 11-12
The UFC 100 fight card takes center stage this weekend, along with a full slate of baseball betting action to take us into the All-Star break. Motorsports fans can also get their fill of NASCAR betting and IndyCar odds. There's something for every sports betting fan this weekend, so let's take a look at what the lines have to offer:
UFC Betting
UFC 100 takes place in Las Vegas on Saturday night, and the main event is a double feature of championship fights: Brock Lesnar is the sportsbook favorite to unify the heavyweight division - as well as avenge his lone defeat - when he takes on Frank Mir. In the welterweight division, Georges St. Pierre is a massive favorite to defend his belt against Thiago Alves, whose struggle to make weight could affect those making sports picks this weekend.
Baseball Betting
Cardinals vs Cubs odds should favor Chicago at home as they try to keep the first-place Cardinals from extending their lead atop the NL Central. Dodgers vs Brewers odds are favoring Milwaukee slightly at home against the best team in the majors, as Los Angeles aims to cap their hugely successful first half. Those playing the Yankees vs Angels odds, which favor Los Angeles at home, should check out the baseball lines for the posted total in your sportsbook, as these two teams can drive in runs with the best of them.
NASCAR Betting
The LifeLock.com 400 on Saturday night can only hope to be as exciting as last week at Daytona, when points leader Tony Stewart turned Kyle Busch into the wall to take the checkered flag. Busch looks to defend his title at Chicagoland against Stewart, who won here in 2004 and 2007, and Jimmie Johnson, who has five top-five finishes in seven races here. Kevin Harvick is also worth a risk as the odds aren’t giving him much credit due to a horrible season, but he has a pair of wins at Chicagoland.
IndyCar Odds
Dario Franchitti, Scott Dixon and Helio Castroneves are the favorites at the Hondy Indy Toronto on Sunday afternoon, as open-wheel racing returns to the North after a year’s absence. Will Power, who won the 2007 race, is in the running for the victory, as well as last week’s surprise winner at Watkins Glen, Justin Wilson. Wilson is an accomplished road-course race, so he is definitely worth a look in your offshore sportsbook.
