Weekend Betting Preview – June 13-14

Posted by BetOnline.com Staff on 8/25/2009 6:52:31 AM
weekend sports bettingWe’re saying goodbye to NHL odds, but NBA Finals odds rage on this weekend and UFC 99 should scratch the fight fans right where they itch. Let’s take a look at the best weekend action for anyone betting online. Don’t forget about the hot interleague play in MLB betting too!

NBA Finals odds
Game 5, Sunday at 8:00 p.m. ET

Derek Fisher’s name will haunt the minds of the Orlando Magic at least until Game 5 and possibly for years to come. His clutch three-pointer tied Game 4 in the dying seconds and he drained a dagger in overtime to help the Lakers come from behind and take a 3-1 stranglehold on the NBA Championship odds. Can the Magic stay alive at home or will the Lakers clinch the title?

UFC betting
UFC 99, Saturday at 3:00 p.m. ET; replay at 10:00 p.m. ET

In the precursor to megahyped UFC 100, Dana White’s show heads to Germany for UFC 99 betting. While there are no title fights on the card, there plenty of exciting matchups to bet on at your offshore sportsbook. Rich Franklin battles the tough but past-his-prime Wanderlei Silva in the main event, while up-and-comer Cain Velasquez looks to make a statement against big heavyweight contender Cheick Kongo.

Boxing odds
Miguel Cotto vs Joshua Clottey, Saturday at 8:00 p.m. ET

Can Cotto recover from his loss to Antonio Margarito, who may have cheated by loading his gloves with plaster? He’s a big favorite in boxing betting at -360 to beat Clottey and he should be extra motivated to win on the eve of the Puerto Rican Day Parade. If he wins, he could be in line for some big fights.

MLB betting

The matchups to watch over the weekend are definitely the Red Sox vs Phillies odds and the Mets vs Yankees odds. On Sunday (1:35 p.m. ET), Josh Beckett looks to continue his unbelievable run of dominance (one earned run in his last 28.2 innings) against J.A. Happ for the Phillies, who is coming back to Earth. The marquee matchup in the Mets vs Yankees odds pits Johan Santana against A.J. Burnett. A.J. should bounce back after getting bombed in his last start but he’ll still be hard-pressed to beat the amazing Santana.

NASCAR odds
LifeLock 400, Sunday at 2:00 p.m. ET

The Michigan International Speedway hosts the LifeLock 400 Sunday. Jimmie Johnson is the sportsbook favorite at +525 but the Betting Edge likes Carl Edwards to get his first win of the year on Sunday.

College World Series odds
Games start Saturday at 2:00 p.m. ET

Omaha’s great baseball tournament starts Saturday at 2:00 p.m. with all the favorites – Cal State Fullerton, LSU, UNC and Arizona State – in action. North Carolina, the March Madness champs of 2009, will look to add another sports title to its list, while Arizona State’s superb pitching could give it the inside track.
