Weekend Preview - April 11-12
This is one of the best times of the year to be an online betting fan. Baseball has finally returned, meaning a huge selection of MLB games to choose from. We can also look forward to Tiger Woods’ return to the PGA Tour; he’ll be shooting for yet another Masters Championship.
Finally, it’s do-or-die with the NBA and NHL are gearing up for the postseason. Here’s a quick preview of the biggest and more important events this weekend.
- Golf betting: Masters odds – Saturday and Sunday
It is crunch time at the Masters. Can Tiger Woods, a +175 favorite, capture his fifth Green Jacket? Woods is just a few weeks into his return from a knee injury, and there’s no doubting the opposition will want to take advantage of a rusty effort from golf’s best player. Follow all the action with Tiger, Phil Mickelson, Sergio Garcia, Geoff Ogilvy and more.
- MLB betting: Red Sox vs Angels odds – Saturday, April 11 at 4:10 p.m. ET
These American League rivals have faced each other in the postseason several times in the past few years, with Boston coming out on top. Many experts have predicted a step back for the Angels this year, and they’ll be eager to prove against the defending champs that they’re as good as ever.
- NHL betting: Capitals vs Panthers odds – Saturday, April 11 at 7:00 p.m. ET
Alexander Ovechkin and the Washington Capitals have already clinched a playoff spot, but the Panthers are fighting for their postseason lives in this, their last game of the season. Can Alex the Great bag 60 goals like he did a year ago? It will be tough, especially against desperate Florida—but he’s surprised us before.
- NBA betting: Dallas vs New Orleans odds – Sunday, April 12 at 1:00 p.m. ET
Playoff positioning is still very much up for grabs in the Western Conference. Both of these teams—although it’s a bit of a stretch for Dallas to make a real run—could finish anywhere from third to eighth in the conference. A higher seeding means more home games, which is crucial—the Hornets are just four games above .500 on the road while the Mavs are four games under. Watch out for New Orleans’ Chris Paul, who is averaging 22.6 points and 11.0 assists per game.
- MLB betting: Mets vs Marlins odds – Sunday, April 12 at 1:10 p.m. ET
Are the Marlins ready for another sudden, surprising explosion like they experienced in their World Series years of 1997 and 2003? Taking down the Mets would certainly be a step in the right direction. Johan Santana and Josh Johnson are expected to pitch in this one, and Johnson will be looking to pick up where he left off in his season opener—a six-inning shutout with eight strikeouts.
