Soccer betting - how Brazil will take the lead in South American qualifiers
Brazil odds will back the Yellow and Green at this week’s World Cup qualifiers in South America - they’re aiming to win their record sixth World Cup - but first they have to come out of their continent. Brazil is currently second in the CONMEBOL standings, but they’ll be the top dogs at the offshore sportsbook heading into their massive clash with Argentina in September.
Soccer betting: Brazil en route to qualify for the World Cup
- Star players like Kaka and Robinho are key
- Brazil will be out for revenge against Paraguay for 2008 loss
- Brazilians heavily favored in the standings
Uruguay Brazil odds – Saturday, June 6, 3:00 PM ET
Brazil odds are favoring the Yellow and Green at -143 in this contest, and they’ll be looking for a sweep as they beat Uruguay 2-1 back in November 2007. Luis Fabiano scored both goals for Brazil, while Sebastian Abreu replied for Uruguay, who received four yellow cards while trying to keep up with the skilled Brazilians. Brazil should have many of the same players in the lineup, such as Kaka and Robinho, but the key is Gilberto Silva, also known as “the invisible wall”. While most of Brazil’s players go forward, Gilberto stays in front of the back four to break up opposition attacks, which allows Kaka and company the space they need to support the forwards. Uruguay will have the home crowd behind them, but over 90 minutes, Brazil will be the better side.

Brazil Paraguay odds – Wednesday, June 10, 7:50 PM ET
Brazil odds should favor them at home on Wednesday, and they’ll be looking to avenge a 2-0 loss in Paraguay from June 2008. Roque Santa Cruz and Salvador Cabanas notched the goals for Uruguay, who also had Dario Veron sent off just after halftime, but they managed to hold off the Brazilians, who were missing Ronaldinho and Kaka. These two players make up a large part of Brazil’s attacking threat, and they should be in the lineup this time. If Brazil can keep Santa Cruz quiet, this match turns into a rout. This match is also for first place in the South American portion of the World Cup qualifiers, so Brazil will want to put on a show for online wagering players.
