Soccer Betting - England will build up lead in World Cup qualifiers
Soccer betting players have been waiting for England to play up to their potential, as they were knocked out in the quarterfinals of the 2006 World Cup, and they didn’t even qualify for the 2008 European Championships. However, England looked solid en route to South Africa for 2010. England plays Andorra and Kazakhstan during this week’s qualifiers, and offshore sportsbook odds should favor the Three Lions.
Soccer betting: England has something to prove on the road to World Cup 2010
- Skill and effort highly improved from past World Cups
- Rio Ferdinand and Michael Carrick to miss games due to injuries
- Should make fast work of this week’s qualifiers
Kazakhstan England odds – Saturday, June 6, 11:00 AM ET
England thumped Kazakhstan 5-1 in London back in October 2008, with Wayne Rooney notching a pair, along with singles from Rio Ferdinand and sub Jermaine Defoe. England also got an own-goal from Zhambyl Kukeyev, while Alexandr Kuchma scored the lone Kazakhstan goal. All six goals were scored in a frantic second half, and when England turned up the pressure, it was obvious that Kazakhstan couldn’t keep up with them. England defender Rio Ferdinand will miss the game with a calf problem, while Manchester United teammate Michael Carrick failed to shake off a foot ailment. But still, they’ll have enough to beat Kazakhstan, who have lost four of their five matches, and have scored six goals while allowing 16. England is favored at -135 on the road, but soccer betting odds at the offshore sportsbook should be WAY higher.
Soccer betting pick: England
England Andorra odds – Wednesday, June 10, 3:15 PM ET
England needed a pair of second-half goals from Joe Cole in a 2-0 win over Andorra in Barcelona in September 2008, but Cole has been out since January with a knee injury and won’t be in the lineup. However, the Three Lions shouldn’t have much to worry about against a team that has lost all five of their matches, allowing 14 goals while scoring only one. Most of their players will just be happy to be going up against the likes of England, especially at a historic venue like Wembley Stadium. Look for England to jump on Andorra early and often. They went into the Kazakhstan game with a five-point lead over Croatia, who play third-place Ukraine. They should have an eight-point lead by the end of this game, at least. Sports wagering odds will be heavily tipped towards the English side.
Soccer betting pick: England
