United States Ghana Betting – United States Aim For Elite Eight Against Ghana
With group favorite England and a couple of tough tests in Slovenia and Algeria to compete with in Group C of the 2010 World Cup betting tournament, few predicted that the United States would not only advance to the round of 16, but do so as the winners of their group. Their improbable run continues against Ghana, who were able to advance despite drawing even with Australia in Group D due to a better goal differential.

Team United States: Betting Preview
After fortune favored the Americans in their opening 1-1 draw against England on a goal that many soccer betting observers felt should never have beaten the keeper, the United States tied Slovenia to set up an important finale against Algeria, with the opportunity to advance on the line. The U.S. needed over 90 minutes before they were able to finally get on the score sheet, but when they finally did, they made it count as Landon Donovan’s strike propelled his squad in to the round of 16 tied for the points lead in the group with England, but advancing as the top seed based on points differential.

Despite the host nation never failing to reach the round of 16 in the history of the World Cup betting tournament, and the potential that both Cameroon and Nigeria entered the event with, Ghana will be the lone country representing Africa in the elimination stage. Despite falling to Germany in the final match 1-0, Ghana advanced after Australia dropped Serbia 2-1 in their final group contest. With an even goal differential on a win, loss, and tie, Ghana advanced as the second seed in Group D, ahead of an Australian side that had the same amount of points, but had a minus-three goals differential. Now, with the hopes of an entire continent on its back, Ghana looks to establish itself in the round of 16.
Who Will Win It?
Despite their excellent form in a 1-0 opening win over Serbia, Ghana seemed to regress somewhat as a unit over the final two contests, including a 1-1 draw against Australia that kept the Aussies tournament hopes alive, and a 1-0 loss to Germany in the finale that allowed them to advance only based on goal differential. Now, they will have to face a determined American side headed in the other direction, after the United States was able to parlay a fortunate draw over England in to five points with a win and a draw the rest of the way. Unlike Ghana, the Americans actually looked increasingly stronger as the tournament went on, and could be ready to make a charge as one of the few underdogs in this event that seem very capable of making some noise.
