Team USA has never won in Costa Rica, going 0-7-1 in eight games, and things were made worse when Michael Bradley earned a yellow card which will keep him out of the Honduras match.
Carlos Costly netted a pair in Honduras’ 3-1 win over Mexico at home back on April Fools’ Day, with a single coming from Carlos Pavon. Honduras was stout on defense, not allowing a shot on goal until the 56th minute, and only an 82nd-minute penalty from Mexico’s Nery Castillo ruined their clean sheet. That was the second time that Honduras have beaten Mexico in six months, and Costly has been a thorn in the side of the Mexicans, as he scored twice in a 2-1 victory over them in 2007.
