Upsets – Australian Open Betting
Online betting cappers have seen a couple of upsets on the women’s side but nothing too far out of the ordinary.
The biggest surprise to date has been the departure of Maria Sharapova in the early stages once again as she was ousted by Maria Kirilenko. Admittedly, it was a tougher than usual early-round opponent, but Sharapova still failed the test.
The other big upset in regards to seeding versus actual unexpected loss, was the loss of No. 5 seed Elena Dementieva to Justin Henin. In the grand scheme of things, sports betting sharps felt that Henin had a better shot to win the tournament overall and she was the bigger favorite anyways, so the fact that Dementieva lost isn’t a huge surprise.
Former French Open champ Ana Ivanovic, who has been a wreck since that win, lost in the second round and so did No. 12 seed Flavia Pennetta and hard-hitting No. 21Sabine Lisicki.
The Favorites – Australian Open Tennis betting
Aside from the Sharapova, all the favorites on the women’s side are still intact. There haven’t really been too many scares for anyone quite yet. Right now, the process is weeding out the less-known, lower-ranked women before the titans start to clash.
Picks – Australian Open Tennis betting
We lost our sleeper in Maria Sharapova but we still have our long shot and favorite intact. No. 1 seed Serena Williams continues to march on and will try to avoid the even-year curse while No. 7 seed Victoria Azarenka has a long road ahead of her, but so far she has lost just six games in two rounds.
