French Open sportsbook odds: Both Men’s and Women’s sides pick the usual suspects
- Rafael Nadal’s only true competition is Roger Federer
- Look for Jelena Jankovic to upset Serena Williams
- Dinara Safina a consistently solid pick
Now that the French Open odds are posted in the sportsbook, all eyes will be on Rafael Nadal to see whether the Spaniard can break some more records. Nadal has now won the French Open a record-tying four straight times, and he’ll be aiming to separate himself from Bjorn Borg in order to become the first player ever to win it five straight times.
Obviously, on the men’s side, Nadal will be the French Open betting favorite. He has completely obliterated the field in the last four years. To contrast, Roger Federer has also dominated the French Open and has made it to the finals with ease over the last three years - but in 2008, he only won four games off of Nadal in the final, making it the third straight year he has lost in the final to Nadal.
For Nadal, this is his surface and there really is no one else to consider for French Open betting purposes. Federer now has a mental hurdle to overcome when he faces Nadal, while Andy Murray and Novak Djokovic simply aren’t on the level of either Nadal or Federer.
Online betting fans should put their faith in Nadal to break Borg’s record and win a fifth straight title this year.

On the women’s side, the field is far more open for French Open betting. The French Open odds list Serena Williams as the favorite, but as we all know, it’s not a matter of “can they do it” when it comes to the Williams sisters - it’s a matter of if they want to.
Last year’s sweetheart champion, Ana Ivanovic, took the world by storm when she won at Roland Garros, but she hasn’t been able to build on her performance. Her countrywoman, Jelena Jankovic, has played inspired tennis, which is why she is up there on the French Open odds. She has the defensive style that might be good enough to win on the clay.
The Russians, Elena Dementieva and Dinara Safina, are going to be sexy picks but only one is a true threat. Dementieva is solid, yet she typically flakes out in the quarter- or semi-finals. A lot of people have expecting the Safina to be erratic like her big brother, Marat Safin, but she has been very consistent after making it to the French Open finals last year.
Jankovic is offering good value at +700 so take a shot with her. She has made the semi-finals in each of the past two years and is primed to break through.
Women’s French Open odds:
Serena Williams +450
Ana Ivanovic +550
Jelena Jankovic +700
Elena Dementieva +800
Dinara Safina +900
Victoria Azarenka +900
Vera Zvonareva +900

Dominika Cibulkova +4000
Amelie Mauresmo +5000

Marion Bartoli +6600
Na Li +6600
Flavia Pennetta +6600
