2010 US Open Betting – Nadal Goes For Third Straight Major, First At Flushing Meadows
Online betting players who bet on tennis may be in the midst of a changing of the guard, and this time it’s for real. Rafael Nadal is healthy and aiming for this third major championship in a row when he serves it up at the US Open, while Roger Federer is trying to get to the final here for the seventh straight year. We’re betting on the coronation of Nadal as the ATP’s king.

The US Open Betting Favorites – Roger Federer (+260), Rafael Nadal (+260), Andy Murray (+450)
Federer and Nadal are co-favorites, and even though Federer has won five of the last six US Opens, the edge may go to Nadal, who has bowed out at the semifinals in his last two trips to Flushing Meadows. Federer had his five-year reign at the US Open ended last year when he was upset by Argentina’s Juan Martin del Potro (Federer has beaten five different men in the finals of this event), but after getting dumped in the quarterfinals at the French Open and Wimbledon, we could be seeing the decline of the Swiss legend. Murray lost to Federer in the 2008 final at Flushing Meadows, but even though hard courts are his best surface, that 2008 showing was the first time he’d been past the fourth round in the US Open. It’s tough to look past Nadal in this event, as his knees look 100% healthy, and he’s won the last two majors.
The Second Tier of US Open Betting Contenders – Novak Djokovic (+900), Robin Soderling (+1000), Andy Roddick (+1200), Tomas Berdych (+1400)
Tennis betting players have watched Roddick (2006) and Djokovic (2007) both lose in the finals of the US Open to Federer, and while Djokovic has made it to the semis, at least, in his last three appearances at Flushing Meadows, all eyes will be on Roddick, the American hero who won his lone major here in 2003. Neither player has been all that great this year, and Soderling could take advantage as he looks to break through. Last year’s trip to the quarterfinals was easily his best showing at the US Open, and Soderling has been good this year, losing in the French Open finals and falling to Nadal in the Wimbledon quarterfinals. Berdych is on the verge of breaking through after losing to Nadal in the Wimbledon final, which followed a semifinal showing at the French Open. He’s fallen in the fourth round three times at the US Open, and while he probably won’t snag a tennis betting victory, Berdych should be in line for the quarters, at least.
The Longshots For US Open Betting – The Field
Seeing how del Potro is out for the tournament due to injury, the field portion of this event is wide open. But honestly, Nikolay Davydenko (+2500), Marin Cilic (+2500), Fernando Verdasco (+4000) and Jo-Wilfried Tsonga (+4000) are the only real players outside the top two tiers with any shot, and really, barring any major upsets, they won’t get there. The winner will come from the top two levels, and we’re betting on Rafael Nadal to come away with the sports betting win in the one major he has yet to win. That ends on September 12th.
