2010 Wimbledon Betting – Can Healthy Nadal Break Federer’s Heart Again?
The main tennis grand slam of the season is rapidly approaching and the storyline is about the same as it has been for the last five years or so: Can Roger Federer sustain as the unquestioned king of the grass or has Rafael Nadal taken him over? Two years ago, online betting fans saw what we thought was a changing of the guards when Nadal edged out Federer in the finals, but a knee injury last year allowed Federer to regain his crown. What’s the story this time around?

The Wimbledon Betting Favorites: Federer +150, Nadal +270
As per usual, if there is going to be anyone to bet at this tournament, it will have to be one of these two. Between the two of them, they have won the last seven Wimbledon Championships and this year figures to be no different.
The main question is does Federer still have what it takes to compete with Nadal?
Many of us were surprised to see Federer go down in the quarterfinals at the French Open, but admittedly, that’s his weakest of the four Grand Slams. On one hand, that might suggest that he is fading a little bit but on the other hand, he did win the Australian Open earlier this year.
At the same time, Nadal retired from the quarterfinals of the Aussie Open, which does show some signs of weakness.
But if Nadal is healthy, he probably won’t lose this. Federer will give him a good fight, but Nadal has looked stronger as the year has progressed whereas we can’t say the same with Federer.
The Second Tier Of 2010 Wimbledon Contenders: Andy Murray +750, Andy Roddick +1150, Robin Soderling +2000, Novak Djokovic +2400
Andy Murray will once again be a fan favorite at Wimbledon but let’s be realistic: his best chances have come and gone. Last year would have been prime example with a fading Federer and no Nadal in the way, yet he couldn’t even make the Finals.
Andy Roddick is the great American hope but he won’t get any closer than last year. As a matter of fact, don’t be surprised if he exits early after such an impressive performance last year.
Meanwhile, Novak Djokovic always teases but he’s not consistent enough. He’ll look amazing for a match or two and then suffer a disappointing loss.
Lastly, Robin Soderling is an interesting wild card. He did beat Federer on clay but probably won’t be able to duplicate that on grass. And he was smoked in the French Open Final by Nadal, so he won’t stand much chance in beating him either.
The Longshots For Wimbledon Betting: Field
Take your pick. Anyone not mentioned is a long shot and it’s not a wise choice to bet them.
Realistically, even the second tier players are long shots as Federer and Nadal are simply that good. On the women’s side of th9ings, it is possible to see some kind of an upset as we saw in the finals of the French Open where Francesca Schiavone surprised us all, but on the men’s side, it is straight business and the odds are not worth the sports betting gamble. It’s that unlikely that someone not mentioned wins the 2010 Wimbledon Championships.
