Wimbledon Finals Betting - Serena, Federer should reign supreme
Wimbledon finals odds foresaw another all-Williams final, and they got it as Venus and Serena are going head-to-head on the grass courts of the All England Club once again. On the mens’ side, Roger Federer will try to break the record for most career Gland Slams when he takes on Andy Roddick.
Wimbledon Finals Betting – Serena goes for three, while Federer takes aim at six
- Serena aims to keep big sis from winning her sixth Wimbledon
- With 18-2 record, Federer has Roddick’s number.
Womens’ Final: Saturday, July 4, 7:00 AM ET
Venus, the third seed, strolled to the final with a 6-1, 6-0 mauling of top-seeded Dinara Safina that only took 51 minutes. No.2 Serena didn’t have such an easy time, outlasting No.4 Elena Dementieva 6-7, 7-5, 8-6 in a match that took two hours and 49 minutes, which is the longest semifinal Wimbledon match of the Open era.
This is the fourth time the Williams sisters have met in the Wimbledon final, with Serena leading 2-1. However, Venus took last year’s meeting to give her a fifth crown in London, and she’s been steamrolling the competition. The irony of this match is that the day after this match, Venus and Serena will then go for their fourth doubles title since 2000, so they’ll have to put behind them a singles match that is sure to be a barnburner.
The sportsbook has Venus as a -145 favorite to win her sixth championship here, and if she wins, she’ll be the first person since Steffi Graf from 1991 to 1993 to take three straight at Wimbledon. However, Serena has faced a tougher road to get here, and in seven Grand Slam finals against her older sister, she is 5-2. Serena’s got the killer instinct, and it’ll gain her a third title in London.

Mens’ Final: Sunday, July 5, TBD
Roger Federer, the No.2 seed, heads to the finals via a 7-6, 7-5, 6-3 win over No.24 Tommy Haas in the semis, and he reaches his seventh straight Wimbledon final. His opponent will be No.6 Andy Roddick, who crushed the dreams of British fans everywhere by beating No.3 Andy Murray 6-4, 4-6, 7-6, 7-6 in a hard-fought match.
Roddick will be looking to avenge Wimbledon finals losses to Federer in 2004 and 2005, and overall, Federer has won an amazing 18 of 20 matches against the hard-hitting American, and tennis betting odds should make him the favorite due to this. Federer has been taken to four sets twice throughout the tournament, but four of his last six sets have gone to tiebreakers, so that was a good test of his mental strength. Roddick was pushed to the five-set limit once, and matches against Lleyton Hewitt and Murray has given him the confidence to think he can beat Federer. However, as soon as defending champion Rafael Nadal dropped out with injury, it seemed to be Federer’s destiny to break the Grand Slam record of 14 in London, on his favorite surface. Roddick will put up a good fight, but this is Roger’s house.
