Blue Jays Yankees Betting Tips – Yanks Squeak Past Jays

Posted by Dale "Skip" Lalonde on 8/23/2012 6:18:57 PM

Last year, the sports betting world learned that nothing can be taken for granted in major league baseball. The Atlanta Braves and Boston Red Sox both fell out of the playoffs with two of the worst Septembers in MLB history. Both teams looked like sure things to at least get the wild card spots, and then it all fell away by the end of September. This year, no team wants to experience that kind of collapse and that is why so many teams are pushing to improve their place in the standings. The New York Yankees know that a three-game lead in the AL East over the Tampa Bay Rays is not safe. The Yankees need more of a cushion to get through September.

The Toronto Blue Jays started the season strong, but the fell off just before the All-Star break. But the betting sites know that the Blue Jays is a young and dangerous team. Toronto was able to play the role of spoiler last year to several AL teams late in the season, and now the Blue Jays look to play that role again in this series. The Yankees need wins, and the Toronto Blue Jays are more than happy to stop the Yankees in their tracks and allow the Tampa Bay Rays to close in a little closer in the standings. The only question is whether or not the Jays have what it needs to win this series.

Monday August 27, 2012 – Toronto Blue Jays @ New York Yankees

The Blue Jays start off this series with Aaron Laffey on the mound. Laffey has had a lackluster season, but he has been playing better as of late. His ERA in the past week has been 3.00, which is significantly below his season ERA of 4.56. He seems to have better control and is finally getting more strikeouts than walks. The Yankees bring David Phelps out of the bullpen to start this game, and that is going to be what costs the Yankees the game. The last time Phelps pitched six innings or more in a game, he lost 4-1 to the Boston Red Sox. The results will be similar in this game.
Pick: Toronto

The Blue Jays bring J.A. Happ out of the bullpen to start this game because Toronto is already looking to next season's starting rotation. Happ is riding a two-game winning streak which includes a 10-7 win over the Yankees on August 12th. But Phil Hughes will be on the mound for New York, and he will be able to counteract Happ's accomplishments. This will be a close game with some good pitching, but the Yankees will walk away with the win.
Pick: New York

In its persistent quest to try and find a starting rotation that will work for 2013, the Blue Jays will bring Carlos Villanueva out of the bullpen to try and bring home the win in this game. The online sports book experts have been impressed with Villanueva so far this season and suspect that he could be in the starting rotation next spring. But in this game, Villanueva is going up against C.C. Sabathia, and that is something that the Blue Jays and Villanueva are not ready for.

Pick: New York
