Betting Predictions For Blue Jays Braves - Blue Jays And Braves Re-Create 1992 World Series

Posted by Dale "Skip" Lalonde on 6/5/2012 3:44:38 PM

The Toronto Blue Jays are trying to make their way up the ladder in the American League East Division. The Atlanta Braves are in the middle of the National League East race.

Toronto Blue Jays @ Atlanta Braves – Series Overview
Sports betting line: N/A

Game 1: Friday, June 8

When you make an online betting play at any one of several of the online betting sites in the country, you will not have to sift through data in order to arrive at a not-so-easy conclusion on this particular game. The raw numbers will tell you to go with Atlanta, and they'll be right: The Braves' starter for this game, Brandon Beachy, is the bearer of a stellar 1.87 ERA and has been extremely good – surprising, even – as a starting pitcher for manager Fredi Gonzalez. Toronto, as it comes to Atlanta in a reincarnation of the 1992 World Series staged between these two teams, is going to send unproven hurler Kyle Drabek to the mound with his 4.65 earned-run average.

That's almost a three-run advantage for Atlanta, and when you realize that Beachy has been genuinely dominant this season, you have to then contemplate the reality that he is not being opposed by a pitcher who can match him blow for blow. There's a strong body of logic to support an Atlanta pick, while it's hard to see how the Blue Jays can overcome this particular pitching pairing. The Braves will probably win this series, and that means they'll probably strike first in game one on Friday night.

MLB Betting Pick: Atlanta

Game 2: Saturday, June 9

When looking at this game, the sportsbook calculations are likely to lean in favor of the Braves. Drew Hutchison will start the game for Toronto, toting a generally respectable but not unbelievable 4.35 ERA. Atlanta will match up with starter Tommy Hanson, who carries a modestly better 3.71 earned-run average to Turner Field.
Hanson is a smarter, more experienced, and generally more effective pitcher than Hutchison. It's only one game, but the matchup is clearly tilted to Atlanta. This is the Braves' chance, on the heels of their big matchup advantage in game one, to win this series and make this weekend a relative success against an interleague opponent from Canada. for (at least) one win in Atlanta.

MLB Betting Pick: Atlanta

Game 3: Sunday, June 10

The Blue Jays will go with Ricky Romero, who enters this game with a 4.04 earned-run average. The Braves will counter with veteran righty Tim Hudson, who sports a 4.60 ERA as he makes his way to the bump on Sunday in the closing game of this series. Romero is hardly a dynamic pitcher, but Hudson is an older opponent who is not as physically resilient as he once was. Romero can get a little more "giddy-up" on his assortment of pitches, while Hudson is still groping, searching for the level of form he once possessed when he wasn't as susceptible to injury. Take Toronto in the last game of this weekend set in the Deep South.

MLB Betting Pick: Toronto
