Betting Tips On Yankees Braves: Yankees And Braves Both Try To Gain First Place

The New York Yankees are trying to subdue Baltimore in the American League East Division. The Atlanta Braves are attempting to overtake Washington in the National League East.

New York Yankees @ Atlanta Braves – Series Overview
Sports betting line: N/A

Game 1: Monday, June 11

When you make an online betting play at any one of several of the best online betting sites in the country, you will have to make some difficult choices in individual baseball games, choices that require you to look past the numbers on some occasions. The first game of this series offers a classic case in point. Ivan Nova will be the starter for the Yankees in the first game of this series, while Randall Delgado will take the bump for the Braves. Nova's earned-run average is 5.09, while Delgado claims a 4.26 ERA. However, the subject of earned-run averages has to be dealt with differently depending on each league. The American League and National League do not play the same kind of baseball due to the designated hitter rule.

The American League doesn't give pitchers an easy out at the number nine spot in the batting order. ERAs will regularly be several tenths of a run higher in the A.L. when compared to the N.L – that's just a fact of life for most major-league pitchers. Nova's body of work should therefore be seen as the rough equivalent of Delgado's.

These pitchers have performed at a relatively comparable level this season, and since Nova has already had the experience of pitching in a playoff push – and then in the American League playoffs against the Detroit Tigers – he has gained a lot of added information on how to conduct himself as a starter in New York City. Nova struggled to begin the year, but he shut down the Tampa Bay Rays on Wednesday night, allowing just one run over eight commanding innings. Nova is on the upswing while Delgado is treading a bit of water. The Yankees are a clear choice in this contest.

MLB Betting Pick: New York Yankees

Game 2: Tuesday, June 12

When looking at this game, there's just not a lot of guesswork that needs to be done. The Yankees will be trotting out staff ace C.C. Sabathia, who has a very solid 3.68 earned-run average, while Atlanta will counter with Mike Minor, an unproven pitcher who has been tagged over the past three weeks, so much so that his ERA has ballooned to 6.98. This is a mismatch on paper, and it will be a mismatch in reality. Take the Yankees without thinking twice.

MLB Betting Pick: New York Yankees

Game 3: Wednesday, June 13

The Yankees will go with starting pitcher Hiroki Kuroda, who enters this game with a 3.82 earned-run average. The Braves will counter with righty Brandon Beachy, who sports a 1.87 ERA as he makes his way to the bump on Wednesday in the closing game of this series. After seeing the mediocrity of Mike Minor on Tuesday, Yankee hitters will find it hard to adjust to Beachy's velocity and quality. Atlanta will salvage one game in this series, due to the strength of its best and most consistent starting pitcher.
