Giants Dodgers Betting Predictions – Giants Take Two Of Three On The Road In Los Angeles

Posted by Dale "Skip" Lalonde on 9/30/2012 7:26:24 PM

A few sports betting players probably laid on Los Angeles after they got out to a hot start in 2012, but then they were derailed by injuries and even a late-season shakeup (landing Adrian Gonzalez and Josh Beckett from Boston) couldn’t save the Dodgers. San Francisco took advantage of their rival’s slipups and are heading towards the postseason. They’ll pile on the Dodgers a little more at Dodger Stadium.

What: MLB Betting
When: Monday, October 1st – Wednesday, October 3rd
Where: Dodger Stadium, Los Angeles, CA
Pick: San Francisco Giants

Matt Cain (16-5, 2.77) vs. Aaron Harang (20-10, 3.68) – Monday, 10:10 PM ET

Cain turns 28 on Monday, so he would like to give himself a birthday against his team’s biggest rival. He is 6-1 in his last 10 decisions, and only twice during that time has he given up more than two runs in a start. The Giants’ ace is 1-0 in three starts against the Dodgers in 2012, posting a 2.53 ERA, and that win actually came at Dodger Stadium, where he is 2-2 in 10 starts with an ERA of 3.00 overall. Lifetime, Cain is 4-8 in 22 starts against the Dodgers with a 3.40 ERA.

Harang picked up his first win in six starts in his last outing, and strangely, this will be his first outing of the season against the Giants. He has a career 7-7 record in 17 starts when facing San Francisco, but Harang has struggled at home this season, going 2-5 in 13 starts with an ERA of 4.02.

Look for Cain to step up and give his team a boost heading into the postseason, and take the Giants in Game 1 of this season-ending series.

MLB Betting Pick: San Francisco Giants

Barry Zito (14-8, 4.19) vs. Chris Capuano (12-11, 3.69) – Tuesday, 10:10 PM ET

Zito hasn’t lost in his last 10 starts and even though he is 10th in the National League in walks, he has been pretty steady for the Giants throughout the season and no one would have believed that before. The 34-year-old lefty has split his four starts against the Dodgers in 2012, posting a 2.55 ERA, but he is 0-1 in his lone trip to Dodger Stadium, allowing three runs in six innings. In his career, Zito is 8-10 in 25 games (24 starts) against the Dodgers with an ERA of 3.74.

Capuano is also a 34-year-old southpaw, but unlike Zito, who has been getting better each month, Capuano has taken a turn for the worst in the last couple months, although he did garner a win in his last start. He is 0-1 in two starts against the Giants this season, ringing up an ERA of 6.00, and at home, Capuano is 5-5 in 15 starts with a 3.10 ERA. Lifetime, the lefty is 1-6 in 12 games (eight starts) against the Giants with a 5.21 ERA.

Capuano doesn’t look like he has much left in the tank and Zito is looking for some form before he gets to the postseason. The Giants are your pick again on Tuesday.

MLB Betting Pick: San Francisco Giants

Ryan Vogelsong (13-9, 3.58) vs. Clayton Kershaw (12-9, 2.68) – Wednesday, 7:15 PM ET

Vogelsong has been a little shaky coming into the clubhouse, although he did pick up a win against San Diego to stop his slide, and he has given up four runs or more in six of his last 10 starts. In 2012, the 35-year-old is 2-1 in three starts against the Dodgers with a sparkling ERA of 0.89, and he gave up a run in 7.1 innings at Dodger Stadium. For his career, Vogelsong is 4-3 in 16 games (seven starts) in Los Angeles with a 3.45 ERA.

Kershaw has been bothered by a bad hip, but he should make a start on Saturday and then be on the mound for his team’s final game of the season, and his last as the reigning Cy Young winner. The lefty is 1-3 in four starts against the Giants despite a fantastic 1.74 ERA, and he is 7-5 in 17 home starts with a 2.25 ERA. Overall, the 24-year-old is 7-4 in 16 games (15 starts) when facing the Giants, posting a 1.39 ERA.

Kershaw loves playing against the Giants and even though it has been a bit of a disappointing 2012 campaign, Kershaw will give his fans something to cheer about going into the offseason, so go with the Dodgers in your online betting picks.

MLB Betting Pick: Los Angeles Dodgers
