How To Bet Rockies Dodgers – Dodgers Get The Brooms Out In Los Angeles

Posted by Dale “Skip” Lalonde on 5/10/2012 3:06:39 PM

Online betting sharps should be jumping on the bandwagon of the Los Angeles Dodgers, who may have the best player in the majors in Matt Kemp, and a solid pitching staff led by reigning Cy Young winner Clayton Kershaw, who won’t be on the mound at all this weekend against Colorado. However, the Dodgers have enough to sweep the Rockies, and they’ll at least take two of three.

What: MLB Betting
When: Friday, May 11th-Sunday, May 13th
Where: Dodger Stadium, Los Angeles, CA
Pick: Los Angeles Dodgers

Jamie Moyer (1-2, 4.01) vs. Chris Capuano (4-0, 2.21) - Friday, 10:10 PM ET

While Capuano is off to a great start as a 33-year-old, it may be a larger accomplishment that the 49-year-old Moyer is still in the league and pitching at a decent level, although he is coming off his worst start of the season. Moyer was knocked for six runs (five earned) on 10 hits over five innings to take a no-decision in a 13-9 loss against Atlanta, and he is 3-5 in 12 starts against the Dodgers with a 5.17 ERA. Half of those starts have come in Los Angeles, where Moyer is 1-2 with a 5.35 ERA.

Meanwhile, Capuano ran his scoreless streak to 19.2 innings with seven more in a 5-1 win in Chicago and this is probably the best time for him to face Colorado, against whom Capuano is 4-5 in 11 games (10 starts) with a 3.68 ERA. He has been lights out at Dodger Stadium in 2012, winning all three starts with a 1.42 ERA.

Look for Capuano to continue his fine form, while Moyer continues to slide and we’re just hoping that he makes it to the All-Star break.

Betting Edge: Los Angeles Dodgers

Juan Nicasio (2-1, 5.35) vs. Aaron Harang (1-2, 5.24) - Saturday, 9:10 PM ET

Nicasio was belted in his last outing, giving up six runs on eight hits over five innings of a 7-2 loss against the Braves, striking out five and walking three, which followed a solid performance against the Dodgers in which the 25-year-old picked up his first victory versus the National League West rivals. Overall, Nicasio is 1-1 in three starts against the Dodgers with a 5.94 ERA, but on April 30th, he allowed a pair of runs on nine hits over six innings in a 6-2 win at home, tossing a season-high 115 pitches.

Harang was also on the mound that day, giving up five runs in 5.2 innings of work to take his second loss of the season, and that took his record against the Rockies to 4-5 in 11 starts with a 5.20 ERA. Harang’s last start came in Chicago, where he actually pitched pretty well with two earned runs over six innings to take a no-decision in a 4-3 loss, and it was the first time in six starts that the 34-year-old has given up less than three runs in an outing.

If MLB betting players want a shootout in this series, this could be the best chance as neither pitcher has had their top stuff on a consistent basis, and this game could come down to the bullpens, where both teams have struggled so far in 2012. But the Dodgers have been a little better, and they’re at home, so they get the nod.

Betting Edge: Los Angeles Dodgers

Drew Pomeranz (0-2, 4.70) vs. Ted Lilly (4-0, 1.41) - Sunday, 4:10 PM ET

Pomeranz had to leave his last start in San Diego after taking a hit ball in the leg, but he had been struggling anyway, allowing three runs in three innings, walking three and striking out two. He expects to make this start, but of course, you should always confirm the starters before you make your MLB betting picks. He met the Dodgers at the beginning of May, allowing a run on four hits over 6.2 innings while taking a no-decision in an 8-5 win, and that was the first time that the 23-year-old had faced Los Angeles.

The fiery Lilly bounced back from an ejection during Capuano’s start in Chicago as Lilly, the former Cub, was arguing balls and strikes a little too loudly from the dugout. He took that emotion and channeled it into a great start against San Francisco, scattering a run on four hits over six innings of a 9-1 romp over the Giants to remain undefeated. A win against the Rockies prior to that start bumped Lilly’s record to 9-2 in 13 starts against the Rockies with a 3.77 ERA, and the 36-year-old has been on a roll in 2012.

Look for that to continue on Sunday as some pitchers just have a certain team’s number, and Lilly will be all over the Rockies to lead the Dodgers to a sports betting victory.
