Bet NBA Basketball Online – Picks For Next Week In The Eastern Conference

Posted by Craig Parsons on 2/6/2014 10:03:34 PM

If you’re a sports betting player, you’ll see teams from the Eastern Conference embroiled in some big matchups next week, beginning in New York on Martin Luther King Day and ending on Thursday in Miami, where a handful of the NBA’s biggest stars will be in action.

Magic Knicks Odds – 1:00 PM ET

Many figured the Knicks would be one of the teams to go after Orlando’s Dwight Howard, but “Superman” is still in the Magic Kingdom and we’re not sure the Knicks even have much left to trade after gutting their roster last season to get Carmelo Anthony and besides, the Knicks picked up Tyson Chandler to anchor the defense. The Magic are 4-1 SU and 3-2 ATS in their last five trips to Madison Square Garden, with four of the games going over the posted total and the matchup in the middle may be the one to watch as Chandler will be assigned to watch Howard and keep the Orlando big man off the glass.

Betting Edge: New York Knicks

Spurs Heat Odds – 7:30 PM ET

Miami is the NBA betting favorite to come out of the Eastern Conference once again, and they have been living up to the hype in this early part, especially offensively as they’re the only team in the East to average over 100 points a game, although their defense is slacking a little. LeBron James has been on a tear and he could be setting his sights on his third MVP award in four years, although critics will always say that having Dwyane Wade on his team takes away from his accomplishments. The Heat will host a San Antonio team that has played very well early on, and it’s more impressive when you consider that they lost Manu Ginobili to a broken hand. The Heat are 2-3 SU and 3-2 ATS in their last five at home against the Spurs, with all five games going under the total, and both coaches like to preach defense, so this could be another low-scoring affair. It’s tough to bet against the Heat at home, and you’ll get another example of this soon.

Betting Edge: Miami Heat

Suns Knicks Odds – 7:30 PM ET

New York will be in action in the Garden once again, and you can expect to hear more stories of possible trade rumors with the Suns and Steve Nash in town. Of course, Nash was the pilot of Mike D’Antoni’s offense in Phoenix and the Suns have stuck to their offense-first plan, which D’Antoni tried to implement in New York, but have added Chandler. There is no better point guard in the league to steer the Knicks’ ship than Nash, but he won’t demand a trade and again, the Knicks probably don’t have enough to offer the Suns, so don’t bet on anything going down (although the trade deadline is still some time away). The Suns are 3-2 SU and 2-3 ATS in their last five at the Garden, with four of the five going over the posted total and that isn’t surprising at all, considering that both want to push the pace as much as possible and it should be another one of those games on Wednesday night. The Garden seems to bring out the best in visiting star players, and we’re going with Nash to come out with a big game to show the Knicks what they’re missing.

Betting Edge: Phoenix Suns

Lakers Heat Odds – 8:00 PM ET

NBA betting players have to look at this as the game of the week, regardless of what conference you support or follow; on one hand you have James, Wade, Chris Bosh and the Heat, the favorites for the East and the NBA titles. Then you have the Los Angeles Lakers with Kobe Bryant, Pau Gasol and Andrew Bynum, as well as one of the stars of the lockout, Derek Fisher, the head of the player’s association. The Heat are 4-1 SU and ATS in their last five at home against the Lakers, with four of the five coming in under the posted total, and the Lakers haven’t been that great on the road to start the season. We’re giving a slight edge to the Lakers, who are coached by Mike Brown, who should have a couple of tips on how to slow down James; he was James’ coach in Cleveland, even winning a Coach of the Year award and he is known as one of the sharpest defensive minds in the league. The Lakers have allowed the fewest points in the West, and that is why they should have a narrow edge in your online betting book.
