Bet On NBA Online - Cause and Effect

What will be the sports betting effect of a shortened National Basketball Association season for fans and sports bettors?

This is a question that is keeping general managers, owners, coaches and even players sleepless in the last few weeks but there may be a few things we can project as far as how things will unfold this NBA season.

With the abbreviated 66-game season looming, the importance of every single game obviously becomes more important. Teams will also have to play games back-to-back-back this season and that will likely take a toll on the older teams in the league.

Although the online betting sites point spread will adjust and have a built-in guide for teams playing three games in a row, the fact remains that it will be a grind and it will cause problems throughout the league.

From the day the training camps start, December 9, everything will be on fast forward as decisions will have to be made very quickly on free agents, trades, other roster moves and the rotation of the team as a whole.

And like a game of musical chairs, some teams, some players and some franchises will be left standing when all the seats are taken and those teams will be true and immediate losers.

Teams like the Los Angeles Lakers and the Boston Celtics could find themselves struggling with the younger teams in the league. Mike Brown, of course, will coach the Lakers, this season and he has revamped the offense and the defense.

They will be without the services of Andrew Bynum for the first 5 games and the usual point guard, Derek Fisher, has been in a negotiating mode now for months and months without basketball as the key focus on his mind.

That will take a toll and third guard Steve Blake will have to have a rebound year after a disappointing season.

Pau Gasol figures to be motivated as he pretty much disappeared in the playoffs last year but how he will adapt to the new defensive schemes is anybody’s guess.

Face it, Kobe will be Kobe, as he will try to join Michael Jordan will 6 championship rings but he is human and is not getting any younger.

Kobe is entering his 15th season. He has averaged a bit over 25 points per game over 1,003 regular season games, not to mention that same average over the course of the 208 playoff games -- the equivalent of an additional 2.5 NBA seasons. That's a lot of mileage no matter how great a player performs.

The feeling at this point is that they will be over bet in the future odds and on a daily basis and the team may take time to adjust to all the new things.

As for the Boston Celtics, the core of the team, Kevin Garnett, Paul Pierce and Ray Allen are on the other side of their careers and although they will benefit by a shorter season, they will have to get some help from some trades to get some youth on the team.

Rumors from the sportsbooks have already started about the Celts dangling point guard Rajon Rondo in trade talks and once that genie gets out of the bottle, there is not putting the genie back. How this will affect the emotional Rondo is a question mark and for a player that is talented, he has very limited shooting range and even though he knows it’s a business, the rumors could put a negative spin on the team.
