Betting On Heat Bulls – Heat Cool Off Bulls In Potential East Finals Showdown

Posted by Craig Parsons on 2/10/2014 5:06:32 AM

Sports betting players will have a treat on Wednesday night as there will a possible preview of the Eastern Conference finals when Miami heads to Chicago. The Heat are the consensus favorites to win the championship, but the Bulls could have a better record coming into this game. It’s a tough choice, but take the visiting Heat.

What: NBA Betting
When: Wednesday, March 14th, 9:30 PM ET
Where: United Center, Chicago, IL
Pick: Miami Heat

Why Bet On Miami Heat (31-9 SU, 20-20 ATS)

This will be the second in a stretch of three games in four nights, which starts in Orlando on Tuesday, and the Heat would be looking to extend their winning streak to four games after a 93-91 overtime win at home over Indiana on Saturday in which Miami never led by more than three points. Dwyane Wade nailed 28 points, including a winning buzzer-beater, while LeBron James added 27 points, eight rebounds, four assists and four steals for the Heat, who had a 10-rebound edge on the glass and held the Pacers to 37.9%, but the Heat were a little sloppy with 20 turnovers that kept this game closer than it needed to be. Miami was also 20-of-31 at the foul line in what was an extremely physical game, but they managed to take all of Indiana’s punches on the chin and recovered to pick up an important victory.

Mike Miller (ankle) left Saturday’s game and didn’t return, and you would be surprised how important Miller is to Miami’s NBA betting odds; by shooting 49.3% from behind the three-point line, Miller spreads the floor for the likes of James and Wade, he adds scoring off the bench and he is a great weapon to have when Miami opponents start playing a zone. But the Heat also can’t afford to lose many players as they have a tough week at Orlando, Chicago and then Philadelphia, and they are facing a week in which they can make a statement and really show that they’re the best team in the Eastern Conference.

Why Bet On Chicago Bulls (34-9 SU, 25-17-1 ATS)

The Bulls were missing three starters on Saturday, but still came away with a 111-97 victory at home over Utah, as they shot 55.8% from the field, had a 42-31 edge on the boards and had three players scored 24 points or more. Carlos Boozer had 27 points and eight rebounds, while Kyle Korver netted 26 points and Derrick Rose added 24 points and 13 assists for the Bulls, who needed some players to step up in the absence of Luol Deng, Richard Hamilton and Joakim Noah, along with C.J. Watson. The Bulls have been dealing with injury or absences for most of the season, but they always seem to come together, especially at home, where they are 16-3 ahead of Monday’s visit from a struggling New York team. In particular, Korver may have had his best game of the season as he chipped in seven rebounds to go with his 26 points, and when he gets hot Korver plays a similar role to Miller on the Heat: outside scoring off the bench, which opens up the late for Rose, who took a while to get going on Saturday, but the league’s reigning MVP eventually put up a double-double.

Deng (wrist) was allowed to sit out as he has been playing through this injury and the Bulls have one eye on the postseason with this move. Hamilton (shoulder) should be out for a couple weeks, but the Bulls have been used to seeing him in street clothes for most of the season anyway. Noah (illness) should be back this week, while Watson (ankle) will be out for the rest of this week, at least. Chicago has New York, Miami, Portland and Philadelphia coming up, but they’ve been playing shorthanded all season; however, this is the game they have circled on the calendar.

How It Will Play Out

Chicago will likely be the NBA betting favorites at home, although it’ll be very close as the Heat have won the last five meetings overall against the Bulls, covering the spread in four of those games with three falling under the posted total. Chicago is 9-9-1 ATS at the Untied Center this weekend, while the Heat are 10-10 ATS on the road.

Lean towards the Heat in this contest as they simply have more offensive weapons to go to than the Heat, unless Korver has a game as he did on Saturday and really stretches the floor. It’ll be interesting to see how much Rose is guarded by James, which we saw in last season’s playoffs. Miami loves these types of games and even though the Bulls had the better overall record to start the week, the Heat will want to prove why they’re the favorites to win the title. Take Miami on the road in your online betting picks.
