Betting Predictions For Thunder Spurs - San Antonio Advances To Finals

Basketball junkies have been waiting for this showdown for quite a while, but it's finally here. Oklahoma City and San Antonio clash, with the winner having the advantage in the NBA Finals.

West Conference Finals: Oklahoma City Thunder vs. San Antonio Spurs – Series Overview
Sports betting line: N/A

Why Oklahoma City Will Win

When you do your homework and try to engage in betting online, especially in the NBA postseason, you will be greeted with a series that will feature delicious clashes between prime-time players. Pundits and casual fans are equally excited at the prospect of seeing Kevin Durant go up against Tim Duncan, of seeing Russell Westbrook and Tony Parker stage an epic point-guard duel. Sports fans want to know if Oklahoma City's superstars can outplay San Antonio's blended, balanced lineups.

NBA aficionados want to see if Oklahoma City head coach Scott Brooks can manage to make the right adjustments in a chess match with San Antonio's legendary (and eventual Hall of Fame-bound) coach, Gregg Popovich. These teams won't have to travel very much in this series, a prime reason why we should see high-level basketball.

Why San Antonio Will Win

The first point to emphasize from the Spurs' perspective is that San Antonio will be fresh. The Spurs, after sweeping their first two Western Conference playoff series, will have minimized the strain on their aging bodies. The veteran trio of Duncan, Parker, and Manu Ginobili will be ready to play slightly extended minutes if needed. That works in San Antonio's favor. What also helps the Spurs is the coaching matchup.

Popovich is far better than Brooks, a master at making both in-game maneuvers and conceptual adjustments that will put the Spurs in position to outflank the Thunder. Oklahoma City has a more intimidating home court, which means that the Spurs could face an uphill battle if they lose one of the first two games of the series at home in the Alamo City. However, if this series does go seven games, San Antonio should benefit from having home-court advantage.

What will probably be the X-factor in this series is the Spurs' collection of role players. Kawhi Leonard is a rookie, and Danny Green hadn't been a core part of an NBA lineup before this season. Those two men, who have been instrumental in the Spurs' success to this point, will feel a lot of pressure in the spotlight. If they perform well, San Antonio will have too much firepower for Oklahoma City to overcome.

Who Will Win?

The sense here is that Leonard and Green will wobble at times but ultimately do just enough to push the Spurs past the Thunder. This series will last at least six games, and very likely go the distance. Take San Antonio in a Game 7 situation – the Spurs' veteran experience should count for something in this series, while Oklahoma City still shows signs of being a little awed in crunch-time moments.
