Betting Tips For Milwaukee Bucks – Milwaukee Bucks Preview

Posted by Craig Parsons on 10/22/2012 6:50:31 PM

For anyone who pays serious attention to NCAA football betting, one should not ignore that the NBA season is about to get going. One of the more mysterious teams in professional basketball this season will be the Milwaukee Bucks, an organization that has made substantial roster moves during the past season and in the just-concluded offseason.

For anyone who wants to place a bet on the Bucks this year, an early piece of advice is to wait until after the first few weeks of the season. Milwaukee is not going to be an elite Eastern Conference team, but the Bucks might be better than they were in 2011-2012. Moreover, the fact that last season was shortened by 16 games, from 82 to 66, while also being compressed on the calendar, means that this season is going to acquire a different feel and flow. How the Bucks will perform within this adjusted schedule is an open question, certainly at the start of the season.

Various online sports books know that when assessing the Bucks, the biggest question will be how Samuel Dalembert will perform as the team's big man. Dalembert will be the new presence for the Bucks in the low post. He will replace Andrew Bogut, the injury-plagued center who was shipped out of town in exchange for Monta Ellis and other role players. Dalembert is an agile defender and shot blocker who is not expected to score. If he provides defense and rebounding, he will be doing his job. The thing to realize about Dalembert is that he is quicker on his feet than the players he was traded for – Jon Leuer and Jon Brockman. Milwaukee felt that it was too slow at the defensive end of the floor, so it wanted to get a more dynamic kind of athlete.

The tradeoff the Bucks made when they acquired Dalembert and let the Leuer-Brockman combo go is that they sacrificed halfcourt offense. Leuer and Brockman are both physical screeners who work well with two-guards and small forwards within the context of a set offense. They can pop off the screens they set to hit mid-range jumpers, adding texture and diversity to a halfcourt offensive set. The Bucks are going to struggle to get offense from Dalembert and their other frontcourt players.

Milwaukee will rely on getting its offense from its backcourt. The aforementioned Monta Ellis came to the team from the Golden State Warriors in the deal that shipped Bogut to Oakland. Ellis is a 20-points-per-game scorer with evident ability. The key for Ellis is that he has to score his points without taking too many shots. His point-to-shot ratio needs to be a relatively low one if Milwaukee is to succeed in the coming season.

The Bucks hope that Ellis and guard Brandon Jennings can work together with great fluidity and precision. The two guards are terrifically talented and will be asked to carry the scoring load for this team. If the frontcourt defends and rebounds while the backcourt scores, this team could make a push for that eighth and final playoff spot in the Eastern Conference.
