Bucks Nets Betting Tips – Nets Look To Improve In Second Half Beginning Tuesday Versus Bucks

Posted by Craig Parsons on 2/14/2013 6:19:15 PM

The Brooklyn Nets did a lot of things right prior to the 2013 NBA All-Star Weekend. Coming out of the break, they need to focus on what they can do to be better the rest of the way. The Nets will look to take that next step during the second half of the season beginning Tuesday night when they host the Milwaukee Bucks. Brooklyn won 19 of its 29 home games prior to the break, and will look to pick up where they left off at home as they continue to close the gap in pursuit of the three teams ahead of them in the Eastern Conference sports betting standings.

Milwaukee also did a lot of things right in the first half of the season, and has put itself in an excellent position for the stretch run, four games up on the Philadelphia 76ers for the eighth and final playoff spot. The Bucks can still move up with the Atlanta Hawks and Boston Celtics in their sights, and will do everything to avoid playing the Miami Heat in the opening round.

NBA Betting Preview: Milwaukee Bucks

Surprisingly, Milwaukee hasn’t been much worse on the road than at home, as they are just two games below .500 as the visiting team this season. Consistency will be the key the rest of the way after limping in to the All-Star break with just four wins in their last 10 games, and the Bucks need to capitalize on their size and explosive scoring ability. Brandon Jennings and Monta Ellis have been the obvious scoring threats from the perimeter, while Ersan Ilyasova and Mike Dunleavy have provided the secondary scoring. Milwaukee could really use another big man down low, but their team size has made up for their lack of depth behind Larry Sanders at the center spot.

The center position has been one of strength for the Nets all season, as Brook Lopez ranks among the most underrated players in the game. Lopez has averaged a team-high 18.9 points per game and 7.4 rebounds, stepping up his play at both ends of the floor. While Reggie Evans has helped out Lopez on the boards, Brooklyn hasn’t had the consistency it needs at the offensive end of the floor in terms of secondary scoring with Deron Williams and Joe Johnson both struggling at times. Both are elite talents capable of going off at any time, but they need to remain engaged. The Nets’ defense is another underrated aspect of their game, as they rank fifth in the NBA in points allowed and score a ton of points in transition.

NBA Betting Preview: Outlook & Pick

The city of Brooklyn looks to have a legitimate online betting contender in 2013, and knocking off the Bucks will be the perfect way to move one step closer to that goal of clinching home court advantage for at least the opening playoff round. The Nets have all of the weapons they need to consistently come up with better efforts, but they need to make more statements against teams like Milwaukee in order to prove they are ready to make that next move.
