Clippers One Of Higher Seeds In Trouble Heading In To Tuesday Night

Posted by Craig Parsons on 4/28/2014 10:49:14 PM

The 2014 NBA playoffs have been a wild ride to this point, with half of the first round series’ tied at 2, and the lower seed grabbing the series lead in three of the remaining four series’ coming out of this past weekend. The disgraceful, racist comments that surfaced in audio tapes from Los Angeles Clippers’ owner Donald Sterling this past weekend have taken some of the attention away from the incredible action to this point, but the team it has hurt the most is his own, as the Clippers now find themselves in a tough spot heading in to Tuesday night’s action.

Washington Wizards @ Chicago Bulls
Tuesday, 8:00 PM ET
Game 5 – Wizards lead 3-1

The Bulls are another team in a desperate spot, as they return home for a must-win game against an upstart Wizards’ team that has shattered the mold for how many predicted this series would play out. Washington has dominated at the offensive end, with John Wall and Bradley Beal performing at an elite level, and Trevor Ariza coming off a team-high 30-point performance in game four. Washington managed to survived game four without Nene, and they won’t get any softer with the stud center set to return on Tuesday. Nene has made Defensive Player of the Year winner Joakim Noah look like he forgot how to defend in the paint, averaging 17 points through three playoff games. However, the Bulls are in a desperate spot, so look for veterans like Noah and Carlos Boozer to show up with their best games of the playoffs, and extend this series at least one more game with a close win that should go down to the wire.

NBA Betting Pick: Chicago Bulls

Memphis Grizzlies @ Oklahoma City Thunder
Tuesday, 9:00 PM ET
Game 5 – Series tied 2-2

The Thunder needed overtime and a game-high 32 points from Reggie Jackson to claw out a game-four win at Memphis to even the series at two, but now they get a chance to take back control of the series at home for game five. Kevin Durant and Russell Westbrook have not played nearly as good as they are capable of, and the fact that this series is still tied is testament to that Oklahoma City should still be the favorite. Containing the tandem of Marc Gasol and Zach Randolph is never easy, and Mike Conley has been a stud for the Grizzlies in this series. However, the Thunder still managed to take game four on the road without their best from their best players, so they should be able to get it done at home in game five with better performances from Durant and Westbrook.

NBA Betting Pick: Oklahoma City Thunder

Golden State Warriors @ Los Angeles Clippers
Tuesday, 10:30 PM ET
Game 5 – Series tied 2-2

What will the atmosphere be like for the Clippers’ first home game since the comments made by Sterling were revealed? Well, the rest of the league has taken notice, and despite commissioner Adam Silver affording Sterling due process, it seems this situation could get worse before it gets better. Chris Paul, Blake Griffin, and company made it clear that the issue took away from their focus in a game four loss in which they looked a step slow at both ends of the floor, and it will be even more magnified back in Los Angeles. The Warriors can smell blood in the water, so look for them to steal one and earn a chance to put this series away in game six at home.

NBA Betting Pick: Golden State Warriors
