2015 NBA Betting – Picks For Games On Saturday, May 2

The best series of the NBA playoffs’ first round is the only series to go seven games. What will the San Antonio Spurs and Los Angeles Clippers do in the final meeting between the two evenly-matched teams this season?

Game 7, Western Conference First Round:

San Antonio Spurs @ Los Angeles Clippers – Saturday, May 2

When the San Antonio Spurs lost Game 4 of this series, they felt the pressure to go into Los Angeles and win one more game, hoping that if they could regain a lead in the series, they could close it out at home in Game 6. Well, the Spurs did get a 3-2 lead by winning on the Clippers’ home court, but the close-out at home did not happen. Los Angeles won yet again in San Antonio, swiping Game 6 to force a decisive Game 7 in the City of Angels on Saturday night.

You could look at this game from many angles, starting with the fact that the Clippers have bounced back numerous times. Past Clipper teams probably wouldn’t have been able to do what this one has done. Chris Paul and especially Blake Griffin are just more consistent players than they used to be. Griffin scored 18 points in the second half to lead the Clippers in Game 6. Paul rediscovered his jump shot in the second half, but Griffin looked tired and just about spent near halftime. He really recovered in the second half to give Los Angeles the frontcourt scoring it badly needed against Tim Duncan and Tiago Splitter. With Griffin playing great, the Clippers stand a good chance of winning. Los Angeles, having won twice in San Antonio – once in an elimination game – has to think that it can deal with any kind of adversity as long as there’s enough time left on the clock.

For the Spurs, the consolation attached to having to play one more game in Los Angeles (and also being on the brink of elimination) is that almost no one played well in Game 6 on Thursday night in the Alamo City. Marco Belinelli and Boris Diaw played really well, both shooting over 50 percent from the field. The rest of the Spurs were very disappointing, from Tim Duncan (only nine shot attempts) to Tony Parker (under 40 percent shooting from the field) to Manu Ginobili (only 14 minutes and very few points). The Spurs have to be telling themselves that as long as they get solid contributions from everyone or close to that, they should be able to win this game. Kawhi Leonard was only 3 of 15 from the field in Game 6. He should be a lot better in Game 7, and that would help San Antonio a lot.

The other thing to watch for in this game is that Los Angeles big man Glen Davis is injured and should miss this game. This puts more pressure on the Clippers’ defense near the basket. It will also put more pressure on Blake Griffin and DeAndre Jordan to handle all their defensive assignments.

Nothing about this game suggests that it will be a blowout, but the Spurs find ways to make those few extra plays. Trust San Antonio here.
