Picking The Three Locks For Tuesday’s NBA Betting Action

Posted by Craig Parsons on 2/3/2014 8:40:28 PM

The NBA season is now over half over, and we are finally getting a real look at how good some of these teams really are. The Oklahoma City Thunder continue to roll despite being without Russell Westbrook, but another team that’s shorthanded, the Charlotte Bobcats, are struggling mightily without their starting point guard on the court. It’s tough to predict games when the spread comes into play, but the following Tuesday night games are the closest ones to being locks, and all sports bettors should take notice.

Charlotte Bobcats @ Golden State Warriors
Odds: Warriors -9

The Bobcats are still without Kemba Walker due to an ankle injury, but the Golden State Warriors are at full strength and being led by the dominant shooting ability of Stephen Curry. Al Jefferson has recently stepped up his game for the shorthanded Bobcats, but it hasn’t always been enough as Walker’s replacement Ramon Sessions has been rather unimpressive in his extended playing time. The Warriors have gotten a few impressive victories as of late, and this Tuesday night matchup is one that could get ugly if Curry keeps shooting lights out. He scored 44 points just the other night, but going up against the 6th ranked Bobcats defense could keep this game closer than expected even though I’m still picking the Warriors to cover the spread and get another home victory.

Pick: Warriors

Los Angeles Lakers @ Minnesota Timberwolves
Odds: Timberwolves -7

The Minnesota Timberwolves aren’t playing as well as many people thought they would this season, but they are still better than the Los Angeles Lakers who have dropped 12 of their last 14 games. The Lakers have been looking better since Kendall Marshall took over the point guard duties, but the defense of Ricky Rubio could limit the youngsters effectiveness come Tuesday night. The Timberwolves are one of the best scoring offenses in the league, and once the get a double-digit lead they very rarely give it up. The Lakers boast one of the NBA’s worst defenses that allows 106 points per game, which leads me to believe the Timberwolves will emerge victorious and get a much needed win.

Pick: Timberwolves

Indiana Pacers @ Atlanta Hawks
Odds: Pacers -7.5

The Atlanta Hawks have been treading water since Al Horford went down with his pectoral injury, but Tuesday night against the Indiana Pacers will be a tough test for a shorthanded squad. The Pacers now hold the clear height advantage over the Hawks with Roy Hibbert who’s eclipsed 20 points and two blocks in his last two games. While Hibbert has been player better recently, so has Lance Stephenson as the third-year player collected his fourth career triple double in a losing effort to the Phoenix Suns last week. Although the Pacers did lose that game to the Suns, they should have no problem dealing with a shorthanded Hawks squad that is fighting to stay in the eighth spot in the Eastern Conference.

Pick: Pacers
