Mavericks-Bobcats, Hawks-Bulls Highlight The Tuesday Lineup

Posted by Craig Parsons on 2/10/2014 8:14:45 PM

Game 1: Dallas Mavericks @ Charlotte Bobcats – Tuesday, February 11

When basketball betting experts look at this game, they’re going to find it hard to go against the Mavericks. Dallas has performed above expectations this season, to the point that the Mavs aren’t just in a playoff position right now (ahead of last season’s third seed in the Western Conference, the Denver Nuggets, plus a Minnesota Timberwolves team that was loaded with talent), but inhabit the seventh spot in the West, ahead of the Golden State Warriors. You would not have found many basketball pundits who would have told you that just before the All-Star break, Dallas would be ahead of Golden State in the standings. The Mavericks are getting enough production from non-Dirk Nowitzki sources to become a player in a deep conference where very few games are freebies.

Charlotte has actually performed quite well in its own right. The Bobcats, under head coach Steve Clifford, have worked their way into the eighth and final playoff spot in the Eastern Conference, and from that standpoint, they have achieved more than Dallas has. However, the East is so weak that the Bobcats have a record that’s seven games under the .500 mark (22-29). For that reason, one can’t say that Charlotte is enjoying a better season than Dallas. It’s just that Charlotte was so low last season that its improvement registers as more of a story than the one Dallas has written. The Mavericks are a much stronger team than the Bobcats and should be able to be focused enough, just days before the All-Star break, to push through and win.

NBA Betting Pick: Dallas

Game 2: Atlanta Hawks @ Chicago Bulls – Tuesday, February 11

When people in the online sports betting legal community look at this game, they’re going to be evenly divided. On one hand, Chicago continues to play great defense and hang near the .500 mark despite a depleted roster. The Bulls were thought to be a team that would tank on its season once Derrick Rose got injured and Luol Deng was traded to the Cleveland Cavaliers. Yet, Chicago’s commitment to defense under head coach Tom Thibodeau remains very much intact. The Bulls, no matter how mediocre they are on offense, manage to be in the right spots on defense, to the point that they can handle almost any opposing offense in the NBA. This consistency is why Chicago might win.

On the other hand, the Bulls just got finished with a long Western road swing. After a Sunday game against the Los Angeles Lakers, the Bulls could be very tired as they come home. You could go either way here, but the Bulls inspire more confidence at this point.

NBA Betting Pick: Chicago

Game 3: Sacramento Kings @ Cleveland Cavaliers – Tuesday, February 11

For people interested in football betting or baseball betting, basketball might not seem like a big deal right now, but the Cleveland Cavaliers are in a fight for the eighth seed in the Eastern Conference. Having just fired their general manager, Cleveland is in a state of crisis. The Cavaliers responded well over the weekend, but will they be able to keep going? It’s anybody’s guess. The chances of the Cavs continuing to thrive are remote, so lean toward Sacramento here.

NBA Betting Pick: Sacramento
