Kings Hawks Betting Tips – Sacramento, Winding Down The Clock, Goes To Atlanta

The Sacramento Kings have just two months left until they will likely go to Seattle to become the new Sonics. Can this team do something memorable before it moves to the Northwest?

Why Sacramento Will Win

Few online horse betting experts or other casual basketball fans probably thought that the Atlanta Hawks would lose at home to the New Orleans Hornets on Friday, Feb. 8. Yet, it happened, and it happened in rather decisive fashion. The Hawks' defense simply did not show up, as the Hornets cruised to a shockingly easy 111-100 win in Georgia. Atlanta was 29-22 at the All-Star break, and while that's not a terrible record by any means, it was very disappointing nonetheless. Atlanta won 20 of its first 30 games and attained third place in the Eastern Conference behind the New York Knicks and Miami Heat.

For a period of time, it looked as though Atlanta had solved the problems that had befallen the organization on the court in prior seasons. The team's basketball IQ had seemingly risen. The Hawks' penchant for throwing in a stinker here and there had apparently become less pronounced. Yet, that loss to New Orleans, coupled with an inability to win against comparable opponents, caused Atlanta to lose 12 of 21 games, thereby squandering that superb 20-10 start. This is a team that is adrift at the moment, and Sacramento – while hardly one of the NBA's elite squads – can certainly go into Atlanta and steal an upset.

Why Atlanta Will Win

The best betting sites will tell you that even though the Hawks are not a model of stability, they're far better than the Kings. Sacramento just can't turn the corner. The Kings have a lot of promising young talent, but that youthful core is just not meshing under head coach Keith Smart. Sacramento knows that Atlanta's halfcourt offense can and does bog down.

The Hawks, even without the human black hole known as Joe Johnson, still stand around too much and pass the ball around the perimeter simply for the sake of doing so, without much of any purpose. Atlanta still hoists jumpers and does not attack the rim as effectively as it could or should. Again, Sacramento and the rest of the NBA know this.

Yet, are the Kings the kind of team that can expose and exploit anything and everything the Hawks do poorly at the offensive end of the floor? Probably not. DeMarcus Cousins should be a dynamic interior defender for Sacramento, but he just doesn't move his feet well or make the crisp kinds of reactions that would enable him to alter or deny a lot of shots close to the rim. Sacramento is still behind the curve on defense, and Atlanta's offense will flourish as a result.

Who Will Win

Ultimately, the fact that Sacramento entered the All-Star break with a 5-23 record on the road is reason enough to shy away from the Kings and choose the Hawks instead.
