Kings Nuggets Betting Predictions – Nuggets Look To Stay Hot At Home Versus Slumping Kings Saturday

Posted by Craig Parsons on 1/24/2013 6:03:55 PM

The Denver Nuggets are heating up at the right time. With the slumping Sacramento Kings in town this Friday, it doesn’t look as though they will be slowing down anytime soon. The team with the best home record in the NBA will look for its 17th win in 20 tries at the Pepsi Center on Saturday night, and with the Kings managing just four wins in 20 road games so far this year, it’s hard to imagine they will be stopped. Denver is coming off back-to-back wins over the Oklahoma City Thunder and Houston Rockets, climbing to sixth in the Western Conference standings with eight wins in their last 10 overall.

The Kings simply haven’t been able to overcome a slew of injuries and inconsistent play this season, and it won’t get any easier in a difficult environment on the road. DeMarcus Cousins has been the one bright spot in another tough year for Sacramento, but there are a lot of sports betting rumors surrounding this franchise, among them that the star forward will be traded at some point in the next few weeks.

NBA Betting Preview: Sacramento Kings

Cousins has averaged a team-high 18.1 points and 10.6 rebounds per game this season, but he would be the perfect addition to a team in contention and his name has been mentioned more than a few times in trade talks over the past month. Tyreke Evans has struggled to stay healthy and that has been a huge part of the problem this year, as well as a lack of depth on a team that has been terrible away from home. Marcus Thornton and Isaiah Thomas have helped pick up the slack with Evans out, but it hasn’t been nearly enough for a Kings’ team that ranks 26th in the NBA in points allowed per game.

NBA Betting Preview: Denver Nuggets

Danilo Gallinari has been the centerpiece of a Denver offense that ranks fourth in the NBA with a team-high 16.6 points per game, but the fact that the Nuggets rank in the top-five in both rebounding and assists is testament to how well they have played as a team up front. Gallinari is one of eight Denver players that has averaged over nine points per game this season, with Ty Lawson averaging a team-high 6.8 assists while Kenneth Faried and Javale McGee have taken care of business in the paint at both ends of the floor all year. The Nuggets have been among the toughest teams in the NBA at home this online betting season, and still have a chance at home court advantage for the playoffs.

NBA Betting Preview: Outlook & Pick

Playing the Kings at home down the stretch will be a welcomed sight for any team fighting for a playoff spot, and that is particularly true for a Denver team that has been dominant at the Pepsi Center this season. Wins over Oklahoma City and Houston should only help the confidence of this group, and they still have an outside chance at clinching a top-four spot in the Western Conference if they keep up the pace down the stretch.

NBA Betting Pick: Denver Nuggets
