Bulls And Warriors Try To Continue To Defy The Odds In The NBA Postseason

Posted by Craig Parsons on 5/7/2013 7:20:25 PM

The NBA playoffs now move to their second round, as the stakes get higher and the value of experience becomes magnified. Will the underdogs be able to answer the bell?

Eastern Conference Semifinals, Game 2:
Chicago Bulls @ Miami Heat – Wednesday, May 8

If you likened pro basketball to an online casino, you would have to come to the conclusion that the true gamble in this series is to bet on Chicago. Even the community of football betting specialists, still trying to make sense of the recently-concluded NFL draft, would probably venture to say that the Heat should be able to fend off the Bulls, even though Chicago is likely to make Miami work for each basket and every small advantage. there comes a point in time – or more precisely, a matchup – when grit and heart and other like qualities meet their limitations. Chicago has a chance in this contest, but it doesn’t own the advantage by any stretch. When you go over your next review, you will see that the Heat hold the cards here, and not just because the Bulls are beset by injuries and have a lot of players who will take the court with reduced physical capacities.

One thing that has to be kept in mind here is that Miami struggled in the second and third rounds of the 2012 playoffs. Why was this the case? Chris Bosh was injured. This season, he’s healthy, and as a result, you should see the Heat make tangible improvements in the postseason. The addition of Chris “Birdman” Andersen, a ferocious rebounder and defender, should also give Miami some muscle to go along with its finesse on the wings.

NBA Betting Pick: Miami

Western Conference Semifinals, Game 2:
Golden State Warriors @ San Antonio Spurs - Wednesday, May 8

In the online sports betting legal domain, you should be able to identify the elite teams in professional basketball and separate them from pretenders. Golden State is an up-and-coming team, one that has already produced a fully successful season, but the Warriors are not title contenders. Only San Antonio is. First-round playoff series wins are one thing; Golden State knows how to pull off that feat, having beaten Dallas in the first round of its previous playoff journey in 2007.

Winning in the second round of the playoffs, though, is another matter entirely, and San Antonio knows what it’s like to win at a more advanced stage of the postseason. The Spurs’ aging trio of stars – Tim Duncan, Tony Parker, and Manu Ginobili – knows that time is running short for them and the organization in the pursuit of another NBA championship. The Spurs are not going to be caught slacking in this series the way Denver was against Golden State. San Antonio might not shoot well at times, but it will play with the right level of energy and will not be outcoached – not with Gregg Popovich on the Spurs’ bench. San Antonio breathes the rarefied air of a team that knows how to compete for championships. Golden State is not likely to be able to hang with the Spurs in Game 2 or, for that matter, this series.

NBA Betting Pick: San Antonio
