Boston, Milwaukee, And Golden State Try To Stage Revolts In Enemy Palaces

Posted by Craig Parsons on 4/22/2013 7:20:14 PM

The Eastern Conference will set the scene for two series on Tuesday night, and the Western Conference will offer one game, as the 2013 NBA Playoffs continue with the first round.

Eastern Conference First Round, Game 2:
Boston Celtics @ New York Knicks – Tuesday, April 23

In online poker games that unfold in your own home, the luck of the draw is involved. In a best-of-seven-game playoff series, some luck is involved, but teams generally assert their superiority at some point. Game 2 is usually the point in a series when the team that has lost Game 1 tries to fight back and make its foremost tactical adjustments. If indeed New York wins Game 1, Boston is going to spill the tank in Game 2 and do everything it can to get back at the Knicks.

Kevin Garnett, nearing the end of the line in his final NBA season, will be especially inspired to ruin the Knicks’ playoff campaign. One can appreciate this reality when recalling that Garnett and New York superstar Carmelo Anthony engaged in some heated trash talk earlier this season, enough to make back-page headlines in the New York tabloids. Boston might not win this series, but the Celtics’ competitive intensity is legendary.

Boston plays above the sum of its parts and remains formidable even when injuries and attrition should point to subpar results. This will not be a clean or easy stroll for the Knicks, and that means Boston should walk away with a win in Game 2.

NBA Betting Pick: Boston

Eastern Conference First Round, Game 2:
Milwaukee Bucks @ Miami Heat - Tuesday, April 23

Legal online sports betting commentators would probably say that this is not merely a series in which a cat-and-mouse game, an intricate chess match, will unfold between two teams and coaching staffs who belong in the same arena and are expected to clash on even terms. This is just a lopsided collision between teams on the opposite sides of the tracks, two entirely different income brackets.
The Heat should not be threatened in this contest or, for that matter, the entire series. Milwaukee will try to make adjustments from Game 1 on Sunday, but how can a team adjust when its best shot and its optimal arrangement of personnel simply can’t match the physicality, length or raw talent of its opponent? LeBron James will frolic on the perimeter, as will Dwayne Wade. Chris Bosh should be able to get comfortable, unbothered looks at the tin. The Heat will control this game.

NBA Betting Pick: Miami

Western Conference First Round, Game 2:
Golden State Warriors @ Denver Nuggets - Tuesday, April 23

Even the ranks of online football betting gurus who don’t devote most of their attention to the NBA season will gravitate to Denver in this contest. The Nuggets lost just one home game this past regular season to a Western Conference team, and that team was Minnesota in what was a one-off occurrence, a true aberration. Golden State has not been to the playoffs since 2007. The Warriors are not a savvy team that knows the tricks of the trade in the NBA. Denver is a more battle-tested squad, one that should be able to overwhelm Golden State over the course of 48 minutes.

NBA Betting Pick: Denver
