Predictions For Warriors Bulls Betting – Warriors Need To Weather The Storm In Late January

Posted by Craig Parsons on 1/23/2013 6:07:00 PM

The Golden State Warriors lost only three games in the entire month of December. They have dropped five games in the month of January. How will they respond this Friday night?

Why Golden State Will Win

When football betting gurus pivot from pigskin and look at this NBA contest, they're not going to think that Golden State is going to be in a noticeably disadvantaged position. At worst, this is an even-money game for the Warriors, who have been a very solid road team this season, posting a 12-9 record away from Oakland to this point in the campaign. The Warriors have shown a level of resilience that few basketball pundits thought they had. Second-year head coach Mark Jackson has meshed with his players and found a way to get them to perform at the defensive end of the floor. Golden State has the chops to win this game even if Chicago plays fairly well.

The other thing that has to be said about this game, though, is that Chicago is not a strong team at home. The Bulls are actually a much better road team than a home team in 2012-2013, going 12-5 away from the Windy City but only 12-11 at the United Center. The Bulls seem stifled and tentative at home, whereas their defense-first approach translates to much greater urgency when they're in a hostile setting. Home games calm them to the point that they lose their edge, an element of nastiness that fuels them at both ends of the floor. Golden State can exploit this deficiency and add to the Bulls' home-court woes.

Why Chicago Will Win

Various online sports betting legal outlets are going to give reasonable odds to Chicago in this game, not necessarily because it's a home game for the Bulls, but because Golden State is beginning to show signs of losing steam. The Warriors seem to be the kind of team – young and growing, but not indomitable – that is learning about the grind of a full NBA season. The Warriors have not been a playoff team in recent years, so they don't know all that much about the need to pace themselves for the playoffs – they have to get there first. Clearly, Golden State is showing signs of strain, revealing itself as a team that needs to get to the All-Star break without enduring substantial damage.

The facts bear out this line of thought: The Warriors have already lost five games in January after losing only three in December. The legs are getting heavier, and the team's offense is generally less effective. Golden State will also have to play Oklahoma City on Wednesday night before flying to Chicago to play this game on Friday. The Warriors are going to get pushed (and push themselves), win or lose, against the Thunder. They might not have much in the tank for this game.

Who Will Win

If there's any doubt about the winner of this game, one should lean to the Bulls, chiefly because Golden State is showing signs of wear and tear. Chicago's defense should prove decisive on Friday.
