Tips For Betting On Pistons Bucks – Bucks Face Changes As Well As The Pistons On Friday

The Milwaukee Bucks have had to deal with a coaching change this past week. They will try to stabilize their overall situation and find a home-court win against the Detroit Pistons.

Detroit Pistons @ Milwaukee Bucks – Friday, January 11
Sport betting line: No line

Why Detroit Will Win

This is not high-stakes poker, but NBA basketball can throw in a surprising equivalent of a river card every now and then. You don't know when or where or how an upset will occur, but it crops up from time to time and ambushes not just the losing team, but the community of basketball pundits. The Detroit Pistons might be 13-23 in the second week of January, but in this game, they might have an opening they can exploit against a Milwaukee side that is hovering around the .500 mark, well above the Pistons at this point in time.

The Bucks are still getting used to new coach Jim Boylan after their previous head coach, Scott Skiles, stepped away from the team in a mutually agreed-upon decision with team management. The reasons for the move might remain murky for quite some time, but there were rumors that Skiles simply did not like the team he had. That could be a reference to a clash of personalities, but it could also mean that Skiles simply didn't like the roster composition he had to work with, an acknowledgment of the Bucks' limitations this season. It is hard for professional athletes to maintain focus when a transition such as this one occurs in the middle of a season. Milwaukee could very realistically drift through this game, while Detroit could play with more clarity, focus and conviction.

Why Milwaukee Will Win

When the best online betting sites size up this game, they will counter the notion that the Bucks' change at the head coaching position is going to be detrimental for them. First of all, if Skiles didn't like his team in a personal way, his departure should be seen as a blessing and benefit by each and every player on the roster. Milwaukee did in fact beat Phoenix, 108-99, in the first game of interim coach Jim Boylan's tenure, which suggests that this team's outlook won't be derailed.

One also should read this little nugget, taken from the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel in a story published earlier this week: "Boylan, 57, has been the lead assistant for the Bucks the last four seasons. He was in a similar situation with the Chicago Bulls during the 2007-'08 season, succeeding Skiles as coach after the Bulls fired Skiles 25 games into the season." As you can see, Boylan knows not only how to be an interim coach, but to do so in place of Skiles, a close friend in a cutthroat business. Boylan should be able to handle this situation with grace and skill, keeping Milwaukee on track.

Who Will Win

This is a game in which Milwaukee's mindset matters most. The Bucks should have a steady hand in the person of Boylan, and so they should be able to play up to their potential and win.
