Tips For Betting On Heat Thunder – NBA Finals Rematch Closes Out First Half Of NBA Season

Posted by Craig Parsons on 2/12/2013 6:02:40 PM

On the final night of regular season action before the All-Star break, the defending champions in each conference conclude their two-game season series in Oklahoma City.

Miami Heat @ Oklahoma City Thunder – Thursday, February 14
Sport betting line: No line

Why Miami Will Win

This is not high-stakes poker, but NBA basketball can sometimes feel like it, especially when the two teams on the same floor competed for the league championship last June. In this reunion of the two NBA finalists from last season, the biggest reason Miami can and will win is that it has the best player on the floor. The one trump card the Heat can claim in this matchup – and which everyone knows about – is of course LeBron James.

Not that we can forget about the rest of his fantastic supporting cast, which plays its roles well a majority of the time. The Heat have been having their share of problems winning on the road this season, which will mean that James and his teammates are going to try and make a statement in this matchup to show that they can win when it counts and against tough competitors. Miami faced a daunting challenge in Game 2 of the NBA Finals last June and won in Oklahoma City to turn the Finals around.
If the Heat can get out to an early lead and keep it, making sure that they get some room on the scoreboard in the last few minutes of the fourth quarter, they can run their offense fluidly and get Oklahoma City to scramble on defense. LeBron and sidekick Dwyane Wade – who have both been playing well this past week – can spread the floor and open up drive-and-kick situations for Ray Allen, Rashard Lewis, Mario Chalmers, and Shane Battier. Miami knows that LeBron and Wade will get so much attention, which means that with solid perimeter shooting from the role players, the Heat will gain a lot of leverage over and against the Thunder.

Why Oklahoma City Will Win

When the best online betting sites size up this game, they won't have to come up with overly complex reasons for a victory by the Thunder. This team has everything, including one of the best home records in the league at 23-3, second only to the San Antonio Spurs, who are 22-2 at home. Of this team's three losses at home in Oklahoma City, one came early on in the season (Atlanta) and the others came against teams that are going to make it to the postseason this year (Memphis and Brooklyn).
That being said, the Miami Heat are going to try and make this a game for the highlight reel at year's end. Yet, with the NBA's leading scorer for the fourth season in a row, Oklahoma City knows that Kevin Durant will be ready to answer LeBron's challenge. With the support of his teammates on the defensive end of the floor, this team really does have all of the necessary pieces to beat any style of opponent it will play this year.

Who Will Win

In the end, this rematch of last year's NBA Finals will come down to which superstar and teammates can blend better on the court. Role players generally play better at home, so whereas Miami beat Oklahoma City in South Florida on Christmas Day, the Thunder should be able to get a small measure of revenge here. Take Oklahoma City.
