Tips On Thunder Heat Betting – Heat Stop Thunder, Win NBA Title

Posted by Craig Parsons on 6/20/2012 2:40:39 PM

Sports betting players have been treated to a fantastic four games of basketball between Oklahoma City and Miami in the NBA Finals, but the Heat are on the edge of the title they promised their fans last year. In Game 5 on Thursday night, the Heat will fulfill that promise.

What: NBA Betting
When: Thursday, June 21st, 9:00 PM ET
Where: AmericanAirlines Arena, Miami, FL
Pick: Miami Heat

Why Bet On Oklahoma City Thunder

Russell Westbrook put Oklahoma City on his back with 43 points, five assists and seven rebounds in a 104-98 loss to the Heat to go down three games to one, and he was the only player on the court that could keep up with James as he hit 20 of 32 field-goal attempts. Kevin Durant notched 28 points for the Thunder, who shot 48.8% from the field and hit 15 of their 16 attempts at the foul line, and they had every chance to win Game 4, but they couldn’t make the plays they needed to make when they needed to make them, and that is simply a sign of immaturity. That isn’t a slight on the Thunder, but they’re a very young team and even though they steamrolled through most of the postseason, the pressure of the Finals is a different story. Westbrook made a mental error at the end of the game, but he was also the one that kept them in it and he showed no fear, which is more than NBA betting sharps can say for some of the other Thunder players.

James Harden continues to struggle shooting the basketball as he was 2-of-10 from the floor for eight points, and even though he grabbed 10 rebounds, the Thunder don’t need him for his rebounding, they need Harden to score points. He has been atrocious in the Finals with the exception of Game 2 when he dropped 21 points and if the Thunder are going to send this back home, they’ll need him to step up. Also, Oklahoma City’s big men aren’t taking control of the inside as they should.

Why Bet On Miami Heat

James was marvelous with 25 points, 12 assists and nine rebounds, and he would have put up a triple-double if not for cramps that put him on the bench for the last couple minutes of the game. Still, he found a way to make a back-breaking three-pointer that basically sealed the deal for the Heat, who were 10-of-26 from beyond the arc. Miami also got 25 points each from Dwyane Wade and Mario Chalmers, who was being guarded by Durant, who was trying to stay out of foul trouble and Chalmers took that as a sign of disrespect. That was as aggressive as we’ve seen Chalmers throughout the postseason, and like Westbrook, he is fearless when it comes to taking and making big shots. He has always been that way, dating back to his college days and sometimes, the Heat need someone like Chalmers to get going. Chris Bosh had 13 points and nine boards for the Heat, and even though James was the star, it was a total team effort from a squad that has been called the “Big Three” and not much else.

There is a little concern about James’ cramping issues, but he should be ready to go in Game 5 and it’s a surprise that it doesn’t happen more with James, who has pushed himself to the limit throughout the playoffs and continues to do so. There is no player in the league that is under a bigger microscope than James, who has fared extremely well under pressure in these playoffs and he, along with the rest of the Heat, will have to push that pressure to the side because the Thunder will be coming with both barrels as they don’t have anything to lose, and a team with their backs against the wall can be dangerous.

How It Will Play Out

Miami is favored by three points at home according to NBA betting odds, and they’ve deserved to win both games in Miami so far, although some think that they got some help from the officials in Game 4. The larger concern for Oklahoma City is Harden, because Durant and Westbrook aren’t going to beat the Heat on their own.

It could get tricky for Miami for a bit in Game 5, but they’ve learned a lot from last year’s loss to Dallas in the Finals and they want no parts of going back to Oklahoma City, where they split the first two games of the series. Look for another virtuoso performance from James on Thursday night, and wager on Miami in your online betting picks.
