Kansas Washington State Betting Tips – Kansas Needs To Get Sharper As Season Continues

The Kansas Jayhawks struggled mightily with the Chattanooga Mocs this past Thursday. They'll need to play better if they want to comfortably dispatch the Washington State Cougars.

Why Kansas Will Win

Football betting experts do not trust Kansas on the gridiron, but basketball betting experts have ample reason to stick with the Jayhawks on the hardwood. No bet on sports is ever completely guaranteed. Kansas struggled in the early portions of last season, winning a number of games by narrow margins at home. However, the Jayhawks worked through their problems, meshed on the floor as the season went along, found a rhythm in their halfcourt offense, and made their way to the national championship game before losing to Kentucky.

Kansas trailed Chattanooga (from the Southern Conference) by a 36-28 margin at halftime on Thursday. The Jayhawks were sluggish and generally did not respond well to the Mocs' defensive pressure. KU head coach Bill Self has not been happy with his team's progress to this point in the season, but that's a good sign for the Jayhawks. After the ugly win over Chattanooga, the players now know that their coach wasn't telling them lies – he was giving them the straight story. Players want to win for Self – they respect him and look up to him. Kansas should be attentive, vigilant and energized for this game, which will be played at the Sprint Center in Kansas City, Mo. The Jayhawks should be able to correct their mistakes, perform better in their halfcourt sets, and use the defense of their shot-blocking center, Jeff Withey, to dominate Washington State.

Why Washington State Will Win

Even mma betting experts with a surface knowledge of college basketball are aware that Kansas is not going to gel all that easily on offense in November. The Jayhawks lost Thomas Robinson and Tyshawn Taylor to the NBA this past offseason. Robinson was the team's anchor in the 2011-2012 campaign, providing a physical and athletically dynamic presence plus the ability to step out and hit the 15-foot jumper to keep defenses honest. Taylor was volatile and erratic at times, but KU's point guard last season was devastatingly quick and a clever playmaker who pried open a lot of high-quality shot opportunities for his teammates. The loss of those two proven performers will make Kansas a work in progress on offense. Washington State can stay in this game for 40 minutes if it can play lockdown defense and take away easy baskets for the Jayhawks. Handling the size of Withey near the rim will be a task, but if the Cougars can keep Withey off the boards and limit Kansas to one shot per possession, they will stay in this game with a chance to win, deep into the second half.

Who Will Win

Don't assume Kansas will crush Washington State in this game. Kansas has lost at the Sprint Center in early-season games in recent years. Davidson did the trick not too long ago. However, the Jayhawks will probably have enough juice to win by 10 to 12 points or something in that range.
