March Madness Favorites Betting - The Favorites Look To Dominate The Tournament

Posted by Washington Tucker on 2/10/2014 4:31:35 AM

March Madness betting experts who are balancing between picking a favorite and giving other bettors “the field” in this year’s NCAA Tournament would surely take Kentucky if they were forced to pick one team versus the field. Kentucky is a young team carried by two freshmen, but those freshmen are legitimately great players. Anthony Davis and Michael Kidd-Gilchrist are two of the hardest working players in the nation, and they’re also two of the very best defenders. Davis is an elite shot blocker who transforms just about every game he plays in. He has more of an effect on opposing coaches’ game plans than anyone else in the United States. Teams have to get Davis in foul trouble if they want to severely inconvenience Kentucky. The way to play the Wildcats is to pack in a zone and hope that Doron Lamb will have a bad shooting night. Unfortunately for UK’s foes, if Lamb is covered, Terrence Jones can still break free and score from just about any spot on the floor. This is a team with comparatively few weaknesses. What’s even more impressive is that it is an unselfish team with a good attitude and a willingness to trust head coach John Calipari. Everything is in place for this team to make a run to the national championship. This is clearly Kentucky’s tournament to lose. No one would question that claim, with the possible exception of some Syracuse fans. However, Syracuse does not have the interior presence or rebounding ability Kentucky does. The Wildcats are the team to beat this March.

North Carolina

When you do your homework and assess your sports bet on this year’s NCAA Tournament, it is very hard to deny the talent the North Carolina Tar Heels possess. This team did not run wild during the regular season, losing heartbreakers to Kentucky and Duke while getting bombed by 33 points at Florida State. However, North Carolina still has one of the best low-post scorers in the country, ACC All-First Team selection Tyler Zeller, plus an elite point guard in Kendall Marshall, who throws one of the best long-distance fast-break passes in the country. The Tar Heels also have Harrison Barnes, a hot-and-cold jump shooter who, when at the top of his game, can be electric. Barnes is the key for this team, but if Zeller and fellow big man John Henson are blocking shots and snapping down rebounds, it will take a major-league effort from three-point range to take this team out.

The college basketball betting experts who are lining up all their stats and information for March Madness are quite aware that the Kansas Jayhawks have been an upset magnet in most NCAA Tournaments. Kansas coach Bill Self lost in the first round to Bucknell in 2005 and then to Bradley in 2006. He had a top-seeded team that lost in the round of 32 in 2010, and another top seed that lost to No. 11 seed Virginia Commonwealth in last year’s Elite Eight. Kansas has underachieved a lot in March, but it continues to produce teams that max out in the regular season. Kansas won its eighth straight Big 12 Conference championship this season. It seems as though it’s just a matter of time before the Jayhawks break through again and make the Final Four.
