March Madness First Four Betting – Picks For The First Four March Madness Games

Posted by Washington Tucker on 2/6/2014 2:30:32 AM

Online betting players have been getting ready for the NCAA Tournament since the Super Bowl wrapped up the NFL season, and the Big Dance finally tips off on Tuesday with the First Four, a group of play-in games which will finish out your bracket, and we’re here to get you off to a good start with our picks.

  • What: College basketball betting
  • When: Tuesday, March 15, 6:30 PM ET and 9:00 PM ET; Wednesday, March 16, 6:30 PM ET and 9:00 PM ET
  • Where: University Of Dayton Arena, Dayton, OH

UNC Asheville AR Little Rock Betting (Tuesday, 6:30 PM ET)

The Bulldogs are 4-point favorites over the Trojans in this battle for the 16th seed in the Southeast, and the winner will play top-seeded Pittsburgh in Washington D.C. on Thursday. UNC Asheville is on a roll, winning six in a row, taking the Big South along the way, while Little Rock swept through the Sun Belt. UNC Asheville has been known to push the pace of the game, and this is what Little Rock has to watch out for as they won’t be able to keep up with the Bulldogs on the offensive end of the floor. Also, even though UNC Asheville depends on the backcourt duo of Matt Dickey and J.P. Primm, they also hold a size advantage over the Bulldogs, who will have to play their best game of the season to make it to the Big Dance.

Betting Edge: UNC Asheville -4

UAB Clemson Betting (Tuesday, 9:00 PM ET)

The ACC’s Tigers are 5-point favorites over the Blazers from the Conference USA, and the winner of this game gets the No.12 seed in the East region, where they will meet West Virginia in Tampa. The Blazers were one of the most controversial picks to get into the NCAA Tournament after losing to East Carolina in the quarterfinals of the C-USA tourney, and they’re going to be facing a Clemson team who has lost two of their last six games, and those were a road loss at Duke, and a five-point overtime loss against North Carolina. The Blazers have to figure out a way to slow down Clemson guard Demontez Stitt, but we think the Tigers will be too much to handle as they feel they should be in the Tournament automatically.

Betting Edge: Clemson -5

UTSA Alabama State Betting (Wednesday, 6:30 PM ET)

UTSA is a 4.5-point favorite against the Hornets, who have won 11 of their last 12, and that was by a single point as they took the SWAC tournament. The Roadrunners have won five consecutive games in the Southland, and UTSA will lean heavily on star guard Devin Gibson, who powers an offense that can put up points. The Hornets have gotten their offense to pick up the pace so far in the postseason, but generally they’re a team that is going to beat you with defense, If Tramayne Moorer doesn’t get points, the Hornets have problems filling the net. However, we’re going with the upset here with Alabama State because UTSA can go cold shooting the basketball, and the Hornets’ defense will hound them into a poor night from the floor. Take the Hornets to go on and get routed by top-seeded Ohio State in the East.

Betting Edge: Alabama State +4.5

USC VCU Betting (Wednesday, 9:00 PM ET)

This could be the best of all the play-in games, and the Rams are 4.5-point underdogs after a loss in the Colonial tournament sent them limping into this game. The Trojans fell against Arizona in the Pac-10 tourney, but USC has won six of their last eight heading into the Tournament, and Nikola Vucevic has the potential to dominate this game with eight double-doubles in his last night games. The Rams have to find a way to contain Vucevic, and VCU’s Jamie Skeen is going to have his hands full. The Rams were another team that many felt didn’t deserve to be in the Tournament and that will provide added motivation, but the Trojans didn’t have coach Kevin O’Neill for the Arizona game due to a suspension, and USC will play with a chip on their shoulder on Wednesday. That will be enough to power them to a sports betting victory.

Betting Edge: USC -4.5
