Nebraska Indiana Betting Tips – Indiana Seeks A Steadier Level Of Play

Posted by Washington Tucker on 2/11/2013 6:02:38 PM

The Indiana Hoosiers can't be as volatile as they've been in recent weeks. This team needs to be able to find a greater level of consistency if it wants to feel good about itself in March.

Nebraska Cornhuskers @ Indiana Hoosiers – Wednesday, February 13
Betting line: No line

Why Nebraska Will Win

Football betting experts do not focus much on college basketball in December, but they give more attention to the sport in February. If these pigskin commentators did their homework and investigated the realm of roundball, they would realize that Indiana is showing some distinct signs of vulnerability, especially in light of a troubling 74-72 loss on Thursday, Feb. 7 to Illinois.

No bet on sports is a sure thing, and that Indiana-Illinois game showed exactly why. The Hoosiers led by double-figure scoring margins for much of the game and had a 13-point lead with 9:58 left. The Hoosiers led by as many as 14 points in each half and, despite a number of lapses on their part, still led by a 70-62 score with three minutes left in regulation. They should have been able to lock down a win, given their control of the game from the midway point of the first half onward.

However, they faltered in those final three minutes, scoring just one basket and enabling Illinois to hit two open three-point shots. Illinois forged a 72-all tie in the final minute, and sure enough, Indiana gacked this game away. The Hoosiers turned the ball over with nine seconds left and gave Illinois a chance to inbound the ball under the Indiana basket with 0.9 seconds left. Indiana big man Cody Zeller somehow allowed himself to get lost in the wash. Utterly confused by a series of screens and cuts, Zeller stood flat-footed near the free throw line while the man he was guarding, Illinois' Tyler Griffey, strolled to the basket, caught a soft inbounds pass, and laid the ball off the backboard for a game-winning layup.

Indiana's collapse was so substantial that the Hoosiers cannot be trusted to win in a multiplicity of situations. This team has to become far more focused if it wants to be a true Final Four contender.

Why Indiana Will Win

Even mma betting experts with only a surface level of knowledge of college basketball are aware that the Hoosiers should win this game big. For all of Indiana's woes, one has to realize that Nebraska sits near the bottom of the Big Ten Conference, with only Penn State separating the Cornhuskers from the cellar in the league.

Nebraska simply doesn't offer much of a basketball brand. The Huskers are way behind the rest of the Big Ten in recruiting, and first-year head coach Tim Miles knows that he's basically starting from scratch with comparatively few resources and advantages. Nebraska's Big Ten wins this season have come against Northwestern and Penn State. Indiana is in an entirely different weight class.

Who Will Win

Don't think about picking Nebraska here. The Huskers just can't threaten the Hoosiers, even though Indiana is not playing the way a Final Four contender should. Nebraska is just not going to pick off Indiana on the Hoosiers' home floor.
