2009 Boise State Broncos Betting Recap

For online betting players to really take betting on the Broncos seriously in 2009, Boise State knew they had to come out against then-No.16 Oregon and have a good performance seeing as how their WAC (Western Athletic Conference) schedule wouldn’t put them in the national championship game.  The Broncos came away with a 19-8 win that was overshadowed by a punch from Oregon’s LaGarrette Blount, but the Broncos were more concerned with defending the blue turf at Bronco Stadium.  Then, the Broncos really started to roll with a 48-0 rout of Miami (OH), followed by wins at Fresno State and Bowling Green.  The Broncos next beat UC Davis 34-16 at home, before a 28-21 win at Tulsa and a 54-9 romp at Hawaii, then it was on to a 38-point thrashing of San Jose State before a 10-point win at Louisiana Tech forced them to focus a little.  The Broncos then went on to destroy Idaho 63-25, which was the fourth straight time that Boise State had dropped at least 58 points on the Vandals, and the Broncos didn’t take their foot off the gas with a 52-21 destruction at Utah State.  The Broncos ended the season with victories over Nevada and New Mexico State for their second WAC title in a row, but they were still sent to the Fiesta Bowl with then-No.4 TCU, who were also undefeated but left out of the BCS title game.  Boise State came away with a tough 17-10 win over the Horned Frogs for their second undefeated season in four years.

The Broncos, perhaps trying to impress the voters as well as boost their computer rankings, led the nation in scoring and they were 10th overall in offense, led by pivot Kellen Moore, while the duo of Jeremy Avery and Doug Martin kept defenses off-balance with their ability out of the backfield.  The defense was 14th in the country, and they made a number of big plays in the Fiesta Bowl win over TCU, forcing three turnovers.

2010 Preview To Bet Boise State Broncos

Betting on Boise State’s NCAA football betting odds in 2010 may label you as a frontrunner, as the Broncos are finally up in the conversation for BCS title favorites after years of great play.  They may have the talent to back it up as well as they welcome back 22 starters, and those guys will be eager to leave with a conference title as the Broncos are leaving the WAC for the Mountain West after this season.  Moore is back, along with Avery in the backfield, and five of his top six receivers from 2009, including Titus Young.  The defense has 10 starters back, and the line may be the strength as it’s extremely deep.  The biggest loss was cornerback Kyle Wilson, but in their team concept, the Broncos should be able to cover for him.

Boise State isn’t taking any shortcuts with their non-conference schedule as they open the season with a “neutral-site” game against Virginia Tech, but the site is at FedEx Forum in Washington, which gives a definite edge to the Hokies in terms of geography.  The Broncos then head to Wyoming before welcoming Oregon State, who are thought to be the favorites in the Pac-10.  The Broncos kick off their final WAC schedule with a trip to New Mexico State before hosting Toledo, then they head to San Jose State before home games against Louisiana Tech and Hawaii.  The Broncos will aim for their fifth straight explosion against the Vandals when they head to Idaho, then Fresno State will visit the blue turf before the Broncos wrap up their season at Nevada and at home against Utah State.  Oh yea, before we forget:  the Broncos have now won 26 in a row at Bronco Stadium, and they have a 71-2 mark there since 1999.

We’re going with the Broncos to win their conference in another rout, as they should be even better than they were in 2009.  The Broncos are, heads and shoulders, the best team in the WAC and they’re even older and more mature this season.  The only thing that can really stop them are injuries, and they had a few this summer.  Providing they stay healthy, you can bet on the Broncos to roll through their WAC swan song, and the major question for sports betting players will be, will Boise State be left out of the BCS title game once again?
