Betting Tips For Oregon Oregon State – Fifth-Ranked Oregon Look To Bounce Back With Civil War Game This Saturday

Posted by Blake Frazier on 11/21/2012 5:25:27 PM

The fifth-ranked Oregon Ducks were grounded last week when their perfect season came to an end against the PAC-12 rival Stanford Cardinal. After suffering their first loss in 14 games – a defeat that ended the nation’s longest win streak, Oregon certainly can’t afford to stay grounded long. The Ducks will look to bounce back this weekend and keep their slim playoff hopes alive when they travel to face the 15th-ranked Oregon State Beavers in the Civil War at Corvallis this Saturday. Earning a win will take an offense that has scored an FBS-leading 54.8 points per game this season getting back on track, and that won’t be easy against an Oregon State defense that has been very tough this season.

College Football Betting Line: Oregon – 9.5

The Beavers are ranked second in the PAC-12 in run defense this season, second to only the Stanford defense that shut Oregon down with a dominant performance last week. The Cardinal held the Ducks to a season-low 405 yards of total offense, and it will take a similar offense from Oregon State this week to score the sports betting upset.

College Football Betting Preview: Oregon

Oregon ranks fifth in the nation with 313.5 yards per game on the ground, and will need a bounce back performance from senior running back Kenjon Barner to get back on track. Barner has averaged 136 rushing yards per game this season, but managed just 66 yards in last week’s loss to Stanford. Freshman quarterback Marcus Mariota led the way for the Ducks last week with 207 passing yards and a touchdown, and an additional 89 rushing yards, and will be just as important as Oregon’s offense looks to move the ball efficiently.

The Beavers have been a tough opponent at home where they have won all five games this season, and they are coming off one of their most dominant performances after outgaining California 559-322 in a 62-14 victory last week. Backup quarterback Sean Mannion completed 24 of 35 passes for 325 yards and matched a season-high with four touchdowns in place of Cody Vaz, and sophomore running back Terron Ward was strong again with a 128-yard, two touchdown performance. The combination of a strong rushing attack and tough run defense has favored Oregon State this season, and if Mannion can put together another strong performance, the Beavers should keep this game competitive.

College Football Betting Preview: Outlook & Pick

The Ducks can still represent the North in the PAC-12 title game with a win and a UCLA victory over Stanford this week, and they still have an outside chance at the BCS Championship game if mayhem can take over with the rest of the top-five this weekend. Oregon had dominated for most of the year before last week’s stumble, and if they can get back on track they should be able to finish strong and cover the spread in what is now the most important game of their online sportsbook season.
