Each of the last two years, Florida and Alabama have played for the SEC championship. The two teams meet in the regular season this year.

NCAA football betting: Florida Gators @ Alabama Crimson Tide

Online Betting Odds: Alabama -9

The Florida Gators might have found a go-to guy in the red zone and in short-yardage situations as well. Trey Burton, a freshman listed as a quarterback, did a little bit of everything in Florida’s 48-14 win over Kentucky Wildcats. Burton completed one pass for 42 yards; caught 5 passes for 37 yards; and rushed the ball five times for 40 more yards. All in all, Burton had a hand in six touchdowns. Florida has been looking for offensive sparkplugs after being so sloppy and dormant in the first three weeks of the season. If the Gators – who clearly played their best offense of the season against Kentucky – can find more magic against Alabama, they’ll have a legitimate chance of winning. Florida’s defense is very solid, and while there were a few busted coverages and missed assignments in a week-three win at Tennessee Volunteers, this is a defense that should get better as the season goes along. More to the point, Florida has the physicality and quickness that can match up with Alabama. Gator coach Urban Meyer recruits a level of athlete that can and does exist on the same plane as the boys from Alabama. If Florida’s offense does anything special, the Gators will be right in the thick of the fight until the very end.,/

Why To Bet On Alabama

It’s becoming impossible to doubt this team under the steely and unwavering leadership of head coach Nick Saban. Alabama’s young and inexperienced secondary was picked apart this past Saturday by Arkansas Razorbacks quarterback Ryan Mallett in the first two and a half quarters of play. In the final one and a half quarters, however, Alabama’s secondary made positional adjustments and didn’t get beaten deep for big plays in the Razorbacks’ passing game. Meanwhile, cool-hand quarterback Greg McElroy shrugged off two terrible first-half interceptions and led his team steadily downfield. Running back Mark Ingram – looking every bit like the Heisman Trophy winner he was in 2009 – pounded away at the Arkansas front seven and enabled the Tide to wear down its enthusiastic but less imposing opponent. Bama steadily chipped away at a 20-7 third-quarter deficit and, thanks to a key interception of Mallett late in the fourth quarter, stuck the ball in the end zone to grab a 24-20 lead. When the Tide picked off Mallett a second time and then hammered out a first down on fourth-and-short just moments later, Alabama Crimson Tide had preserved its 18-game winning streak. This team knows how to win in any circumstance. Playing a suspect Florida offense on home turf should add up to consecutive win number 19 for the Tide.

How The Game Will Play Out

The Florida offense just isn’t good enough to win this game, much as Penn State’s offense couldn’t cut the mustard against the Tide on Sept. 11. You have to max out on offense to beat Alabama, because if the game’s really close in the fourth quarter, Alabama will lean on you and wear you down with the running game. This week, Florida won’t be able to stay in the fight for 60 minutes. Bama will pull away late in the third quarter.
