Georgia Bulldogs Betting Tips – The Schedule Should Be The Savior For The Bulldogs

For people who deal with NCAA football betting, the simplicity of truth can often be powerful: Teams need dependable quarterbacks in a sport governed by runaway emotions and played by 20-year-old man-children. Georgia will have a generally reliable and substantially talented performer under center. Aaron Murray will lead this offense yet again, coming off an SEC East championship season. Murray is one of the better quarterbacks in the SEC, and for that reason, the Bulldogs' offense should not suffer too much.

However, one cannot give this offense a top grade because its level of quality at running back is in question at the moment. Isaiah Crowell was supposed to be the featured running back for the team, but he got kicked out of Athens when he was charged with illegal possession of a weapon. He transferred to Alabama State. Richard Samuel and Ken Malcome have also shown a lot of promise, and will now have to shoulder the load in the backfield. When Georgia begins its conference season, it will be severely tested, and in order for Murray to be able to settle into the pocket, he will need a formidable running game to take some pressure off his shoulders. How well the Bulldogs' ground game performs is precisely what will shape the trajectory of the team's 2012 campaign. The sense here is that there's enough depth to get the job done, but it's ultimately a very close call.

Grade: B

The ranks of betting sites are very high on Georgia's defense. This is clearly the core strength of the team, one of the main reasons why the Dawgs deserve to be seen as SEC East favorites. Georgia simply didn't give away a lot of cheap scores or home-run plays last year, clamping down on Florida in the second half of the game known as the World's Largest Outdoor Cocktail Party and also smothering the Tennessee Volunteers. Georgia's defense was consistently physical, noticeably effective at stuffing the run, and thoroughly responsive to crunch-time moments over the course of the SEC regular season. If Georgia somehow falls short in 2012, don't blame this side of the ball… at least, that's the likelihood in Athens.

Various online sports betting analysts know that placekicker Blair Walsh is now gone. What people won't agree on is if this is a good thing or a bad thing for Georgia. Walsh has an NFL leg and will get his shot in the pros this preseason, but at Georgia, he had his share of bad moments, including a nightmarish game against Florida. We'll see what a new placekicker will (or won't) do for the Bulldogs.

Grade: C

The reality is simple: Georgia is probably not as good a team as South Carolina, but because Georgia avoids both LSU and Arkansas on the schedule, it is poised to once again surpass the Gamecocks for first place in the SEC East.
