How To Bet On Georgia South Carolina – Defining SEC East Tilt Awaits As Dawgs Face Gamecocks

The Georgia Bulldogs and the South Carolina Gamecocks are widely seen as the two best teams in the SEC East Division. They meet for a shot at first place on the first weekend of October.

Why Georgia Will Win

Legal online sports betting analysts are fairly convinced that this will be a close game, but the aspect of competition that will push the Bulldogs over the top is the quarterback spot. Georgia has a signal caller who is more prepared to win this game. Aaron Murray has been Georgia's main man under center for the past few seasons. He has played in this game versus South Carolina on two prior occasions. The fourth-year junior has a very level head on his shoulders. He's been through the battles. He has seen the evolution of South Carolina's defense and now this season. He gives every appearance of being ready for this road game in Columbia, S.C.

On the other hand, look at South Carolina's quarterback situation. It's loaded with many more uncertainties than anything Georgia might have to deal with. Connor Shaw, the opening-day starter, did not play in this rivalry game last year. Stephen Garcia was still the Gamecocks' quarterback at the time. Shaw will be playing his first Georgia game in the SEC, and that will be an intimidating prospect for him. Shaw's health is not 100 percent, either. He got banged up multiple times in the first three weeks of the season. His shoulder is a mess, and so it's hard to see how he'll be particularly formidable as a downfield passer. Georgia will be able to push the ball vertically, but South Carolina won't. This will give the Bulldogs many more options with their offense and the chance to manipulate the mixture of rushing plays and passing plays, thereby creating opportunities for big-gainers.

Why South Carolina Will Win

When NCAA football betting gurus do their homework on this game, they'll realize that Georgia has some very real advantages, but they'll point out that South Carolina has a few factors working in its favor as well.

The biggest advantage South Carolina has in this game is that it is playing this game at home and at night. American television networks, in their handling of the SEC schedule, put LSU-Florida in the daytime and put this game on at night. The extra intensity of a night game should give the Gamecocks an added lift. The crowd in Columbia will be worked up, even more so than in a daytime setting. Quarterback Connor Shaw would have had a very hard time winning this game on the road in Athens, Ga., but on his home field, he has a legitimate chance to perform well and give his team the offensive production it will need in order to win.

The second big advantage for South Carolina is that it is equipped to deal with Georgia's foremost strength. The Bulldogs know that they have a noticeable advantage at quarterback, with Aaron Murray offering an NFL arm that will test the Gamecocks' secondary… if he gets the chance to uncork passes without much pressure. However, South Carolina's best group on the field is its defensive line. A formidable set of pass rushers, spearheaded by defensive end Jadeveon Clowney, can generate consistent pressure on Murray and rattle the experienced field general. If Georgia's offensive line can't block Carolina's front four, the Gamecocks will win.

Who Will Win

This is a very hard game to pick. Georgia has the better offense. The defenses are even. South Carolina has home field and a two-game winning streak in this series. This game will likely come down to turnovers and, more precisely, the mistakes each quarterback will make. Georgia will probably do just enough to minimize mistakes and walk out of enemy territory with a huge victory.
