How To Bet On Texas A&M Mississippi State – Aggies And Bulldogs Clash In All-Maroon Encounter

Posted by Blake Frazier on 10/30/2012 6:09:41 PM

The Texas A&M Aggies and the Mississippi State Bulldogs wear the same basic uniforms in terms of color combinations. They will try to distinguish themselves from each other on the field.

Texas A&M Aggies @ Mississippi State Bulldogs - Saturday, November 3
Sport betting line: Texas A&M -6.5

Why Texas A&M Will Win

This game might not be as unpredictable as any of several online casino games, but it still offers a considerable degree of uncertainty. Mississippi State has a better record than A&M does, but are the Bulldogs really the better team? Probably not. Texas A&M quarterback Johnny Manziel has been a revelation for Southeastern Conference football fans this season. In the Aggies' first year as an SEC program, Manziel has shown that he can handle the pressure of the league. He has wobbled at times against really good defenses, such as those provided by Florida and LSU, but he has landed punches while also taking them.

Manziel is physically frail, but he avoids huge hits because of his nimble feet and his above-average scrambling ability. Manziel's knack for making plays outside the pocket gives an element of diversity to Texas A&M's offense. The Aggies can throw the ball well and distribute the pigskin to several receivers within their spread formations under head coach Kevin Sumlin and offensive coordinator Kliff Kingsbury. However, when plays break down and the structure of the offense can't create an open receiver, Manziel is able to do something on his own… frequently enough, at any rate, to make A&M's offense so potent and formidable.

Mississippi State quarterback Tyler Russell is solid, but he's not as good as the much more dynamic Manziel. Texas A&M's offense plays at a faster pace and offers better weapons than Mississippi State. It is likely that the Aggies will find more plays – and bigger ones – in crunch-time situations.

Why Mississippi State Will Win

When football betting wizards size up this contest, they will note that Texas A&M has generally fattened up against mediocre teams while failing to get the job done against better teams. The Aggies lost to Florida and LSU at home, getting smothered in the second halves of those games and losing the leverage they had attained in the first 20 minutes of each contest. Indeed, Texas A&M teams – dating back to previous coaches Dennis Franchione and Mike Sherman – have had problems holding onto halftime leads. This team is still quite inconsistent. It is not entirely sure of its identity, and playing a tough SEC road game is going to be a challenge for the visitors.

As for Mississippi State, the Bulldogs – after playing Alabama last week – are going to find Texas A&M's defensive line to be so much easier to deal with. MSU will establish leverage at the line of scrimmage and will use the Alabama loss as an important and timely teaching tool.

Who Will Win

It’s going to be a close game, which means Mississippi State will cover the spread. However, Texas A&M's offense is more likely to make the winning play in the fourth quarter. A&M wins by a field goal.
