Online betting players don’t have to worry about a preseason schedule, as they only have to prepare for the first week of the season.  In the BetOnline preseason top 25, the defending champions are at the top of the list, but they have a host of teams on their trail, including a “BCS Buster” and a conference rival.

1.  Alabama Crimson Tide – ‘Bama lost a lot on defense, but Nick Saban will fill the holes, and the offense, led by Heisman winner Greg McElroy, could be even better in 2010.

2.  Boise State Broncos – They’ve been one of the top five programs of the last five years, and if they can get by their early meetings with Virginia Tech and Oregon State, the Broncos could end up in the title game.

3.  Ohio State Buckeyes – Terrelle Pryor is a Heisman favorite, but the Buckeyes are going to have to take some chances on offense to get the full power of his skills.

4.  Texas Longhorns – Mack Brown still has one of the best defenses in the country, which must take the reins while Garrett Gilbert gets used to being a No.1 quarterback at one of the biggest programs in the nation.

5.  Florida Gators – No team lost more, and it’s a compliment to their recruiting powers that the Gators are still going to challenge for the SEC and national titles.

6.  TCU Horned Frogs – TCU just wants to avoid playing Boise State in a bowl for the third straight season.  If they can beat Oregon State, the Horned Frogs should be a top-five team all season.

7.  Oklahoma Sooners – Landry Jones played most of last year anyway while Sam Bradford was hurt, so the Sooners will be fine in the Big 12.

8.  Miami Hurricanes – “The U” is back, but with less trash-talking and celebrations.  They can thank their predecessors for that.

9.  Virginia Tech Hokies – This is tentative based on their opener against Boise State, but the Hokies have been one of the most consistent programs of the decade.

10.  Nebraska Cornhuskers – Texas’ trip to Lincoln on October 16th is easily one of the most anticipated games of the year, but will the defense miss Ndamukong Suh that much?

11.  Pittsburgh Panthers – The Panthers had the Big East title slip from their grasp last year, and expect that to fuel them all year.

12.  Iowa Hawkeyes – NCAA football betting players can’t be fond of the Hawkeyes, who made a living off close games in 2009, but they’re as tough as they come on the football field.

13.  Wisconsin Badgers – The Badgers are incredibly experienced and if Ohio State and Iowa think they’re going to run away in the Big Ten, they’re sadly mistaken.

14.  Florida State Seminoles – Christian Ponder will be a Heisman candidate if he stays healthy, but hopefully the defense isn’t as porous as last season.

15.  LSU Tigers – The Tigers will be there waiting if Alabama or Florida stumble in the SEC, but coach Les Miles can’t afford any more clock-management issues.

16.  Oregon State Beavers
17.  Connecticut Huskies
18.  Arkansas Razorbacks
19.  Houston Cougars
20.  West Virginia Mountaineers
21.  Penn State Nittany Lions
22.  North Carolina Tar Heels
23.  Utah Utes
24.  Auburn Tigers
25.  Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets

As for the final 10 teams, Oregon State has to face Boise State and TCU, who are arguably better than anyone they’ll face in the Pac-10.  Watch out for Houston’s high-powered offense led by Case Keenum, while North Carolina is the major threat to fall out of the top 25, so beware of their sports betting odds.
