NCAA football betting – Longhorns favored in “Lone Star Showdown”

Sports book odds: Rivalry Week is jam-packed

  • Aggies have won two straight over Texas
  • LSU closing out disappointing year
  • Nebraska shooting for decent bowl game

No.2 Texas was one of the early NCAA football betting favorites in online sportsbooks to compete for the national championship, and the Longhorns haven’t disappointed. However, they may need some outside help to win the Big 12 South as they host Texas A&M on Thursday night in the “Lone Star Showdown”.

In Friday’s sports wagering action, LSU will end a disappointing SEC season when it plays the “Battle for the Golden Boot” with Arkansas; meanwhile, Big 12 North rivals Colorado and Nebraska square off.

Texas A&M vs Texas odds – Thursday, November 27 at 8:00 p.m. ET

The Longhorns (10-1) are massive 35.5-point NCAA football odds favorites at home over the Aggies (4-7), but even if they handle their rivals in the “Lone Star Showdown” (officially started in 1996, though these schools are the oldest public universities in Texas), Texas will need Oklahoma State to beat Oklahoma on Saturday (and it would also be nice if Texas Tech lost to Baylor).

The Aggies have dropped seven of their last 10 against the Longhorns, but they have taken the last two meetings, including a 38-30 home win in 2007. Bet on Texas to put on a show for the BCS standings, as that tiebreaker is likely to decide who goes to the conference championship. PICK: TEXAS

LSU vs Arkansas odds – Friday, November 28 at 2:30 p.m. ET

The Tigers (7-4) are favored by 4.5 points on the road by sportsbook odds, and LSU won’t have a chance to defend its BCS title after a subpar performance in the SEC, losing three of its four games against ranked opponents.

The “Battle for the Golden Boot” began officially in 1996, but these schools first met in 1901. The Razorbacks (4-7) broke a four-game skid to LSU with a 50-48 triple-overtime thriller last year but have dropped six of their last 10 meetings with the Tigers.

Defensively, the Razorbacks haven’t been able to keep up in the SEC, and the Tigers will take advantage of their shortcomings. PICK: LSU

Colorado vs Nebraska odds – Friday, November 28 at 3:30 p.m. ET

While there is no official rivalry name, these Big 12 schools are two of the oldest institutions in the country, and the Buffaloes (5-6) won their fourth game in their last 10 against the Cornhuskers (7-4) in a 65-51 shootout last year.

The Cornhuskers, who have an NCAA football spread of 17.5 at home, are in position to make it to another top bowl game following last year’s loss to Auburn in the Cotton Bowl. Their offense quietly ranks ninth in the nation. A win will be bittersweet, as Nebraska knows that a 52-17 home loss to Missouri was the only thing between them and the Big 12 North title. If you bet sports, pick NEBRASKA
