No. 12 Sooners Look To Roll Right Through Texas In Another Rivalry Game

Posted by Blake Frazier on 2/4/2014 5:58:48 AM

The No. 12 Oklahoma Sooners have averaged 54 points in their last two Red Rivalry games against the Texas Longhorns. There is absolutely no reason to think that number will be going down this week. The Sooners are averaging 31.2 points per game this year, but the real story is a Texas defense that has been absolutely atrocious to this point. The Longhorns fired former defensive coordinator Manny Diaz after just two games and brought in Greg Robinson, but the consistency on that side of the ball hasn’t been much better and now Oklahoma rolls in to town looking to put up some big totals in this online sports betting match up.

College Football Sports Betting Line: Oklahoma – 14

The Sooners have yet to hit a speed bump early on this season, although their 20-17 win over TCU last week was much closer than some people had thought it would be. Oklahoma beat then-No. 22 Notre Dame by a pair of touchdowns two weeks ago and is rolling at 5-0, so all the momentum should be on their side heading in to this contest.

College Football Betting Preview: Oklahoma

The Sooners have averaged 246 yards per game on the ground this season for the 17th-best mark in the nation, and there is every reason to think they will pound the ball early and often in this contest. The tandem of Brennan Clay and Damien Williams has combined to average over five yards per carry for 680 total rushing yards and four touchdowns this season, and the threat of the run has made it much easier on quarterback Blake Bell to go over the top. Bell has surpassed the expectations of many experts that thought he would be passed over, throwing for 835 yards and six touchdowns. As impressive as the offense has been, the defense deserves its credit too with an average of just 13 points per game allowed for the sixth-best mark in the country.

College Football Betting Preview: Texas

The defensive effort has changed from quarter to quarter for Texas, which has now allowed 30 or more points in four of its first five games. The Longhorns did just enough on the offensive side of the ball to steal their third win of the season when they beat Iowa State 31-30 last week. Quarterback David Ash has thrown for 760 yards and seven touchdowns, and the running game has looked good as well, but as long as the defense continues to give up so many big plays it will be tough for Texas to continue to steal online betting wins in close games.

College Football Betting Preview: Outlook & Pick

The Longhorns were fortunate to do just enough to steal a couple of wins against inferior opponents, but it will get much tougher this week with Oklahoma in town. The Sooners are absolutely rolling right now with the offense and defense both getting the job done, so look for them to roll right through Texas with a big win in which their offense puts up some big totals once again.
